So I’ve been having this weird issue that started on the MCM103 firmware. Whenever I switched from my laptop connected via HDMI to my PC connected through DisplayPort, the monitor would show grey screen of death and the only fix was turning the monitor off and on again.

After updating to MCM104, the issue became much worse. Now I constantly get the “grey screen of death” every time I boot my PC. The BIOS loads completely fine and I can see it displaying on the screen, but as soon as the Windows login screen appears, the monitor goes grey on every single boot. Turning the monitor off and on no longer fixes it on this firmware.

I also have a second monitor connected to the same GPU with zero issues, so this is clearly not a graphics card problem. I’ve already used DDU multiple times in Safe Mode to completely reinstall drivers, which only fixes the issue temporarily before it comes back again.

Eventually I rolled back to MCM103 after getting the grey screen again, and the monitor immediately started working properly.

So ASUS, if you’re reading this, please fix this issue. It’s incredibly frustrating having to troubleshoot cables, drivers, software, and firmware just to work around a problem caused by the monitor firmware itself.
