Career Shift from Manufacturing to Helpdesk
Currently a process engineer in a semiconductor manufacturing company. And lately i've been thinking that I can't take the mandatory six-day workweek and frequent overtime anymore and the job that i'm doing is no longer aligned with my long-term career goals. I also feel like there is a limited opportunity for growth in my current role
I’ve always had a strong interest in networking and IT. But when I started my career, it was really hard for me to secure a role in the tech industry, so I pursued manufacturing instead. Now, I’m considering transitioning back into the tech field and would appreciate some guidance.
From what I’ve researched, starting in a Help Desk or Technical Support role can be a good entry point into networking. I would like to ask for advice on whether shifting into tech is still a realistic path for me, and what skills, certifications, or areas of knowledge I should focus on to make a successful transition.
Thanks a lot!
