Jellyfin Lastfm plugin has been archived

TLDR: The original lastfm plugin for Jellyfin has been archived, however there's already a working fork.

***

Not sure if this was already posted, but putting it here again since I just found out about it. The github repo was archived on February.

According to the dev:

>Hey All 👋

>Heads up that I will be marking this repo as archived and it will move read-only mode on January 31st 2026.If anyone is interested in forking and pushing forward with developing the plugin , please feel free to reach out.

>I haven't been an active user Jellyfin since ~2021, so assisting and maintaining here has very low priority in my general stack of TODOs over the last ~5 years 😃

Luckily, if you scroll down on the issue, someone already forked the repo and released a new version with fixes.

New forked repo: https://github.com/danielfariati/jellyfin-plugin-lastfm

A big thanks to Jesse Ward for creating the plugin and maintaining it for all these years even when they were not actively using it. <3

Also thanks to danielfariati for keeping the plugin up-to-date.

In the Plex Android app, when the player loads after you click play, it takes about 8–10 seconds to start playing.

Possible issues I have ruled out:

  • Transcoding (it's direct playing)
  • Network speed limitations
  • Going through relay
  • Subtitles

If I play it on my mobile browser on app.plex.tv, it immediately starts playing, so I'm thinking this is a client-specific problem.

Another reason this might be the case is that this issue sometimes goes away with updates, only for it to come back with newer updates. Is anyone experiencing this issue currently? I'm on the latest Plex Android version.
