Had sex may 3rd (only sexual encounter this month) Dont know when i ovulated. Im on cd 32. (usually 28-32 day cycles.) I took a test last night 16 days after sex and it was negative. Can i trust the negative?

My husband and i had sex during my ovulation week, it’s been 14 days since and i had a negative test this morning.
