I just got my 189 PR recently. My timeline is below:
Statistician - 90 points
EOI: 21/10/2025
Invitation: 13/11/2025
Submitted: 20/11/2025
Granted: 10/5/2026
I also wanted to share this here so future visa applicants in the same situation won't have to be as confused as I was. I did my skills assessment for Statistician with VETASSESS, and they deducted 1 year of my experience as the qualifying period. They suggested that I shouldn't claim points for it.
However, you CAN still claim points if your experience is after graduation. I did, and I attached a letter explaining why I should be eligible when I submitted my visa application. The Department will take this into consideration and award points if you're eligible - they don't just look purely at the skills assessment outcome. Don't listen to random opinions on the internet; many people told me not to claim the 5 points and talked a load of shit. Read the official information!
