Non-drinker here looking for tequila advice for my dad 😅
Hey everyone,
I’m looking for a birthday gift for my dad and wanted to ask the tequila experts here for some advice.
We visited Mexico a few times and he tried a lot of tequilas directly at different distilleries. The one he ended up really liking was Don Julio 70 (please don’t roast him 😅). What he loved about it was how incredibly smooth and easy it was to drink.
He really does NOT enjoy harsh alcohol, strong burn, peppery/aggressive agave notes, or anything that tastes too “sharp.”
He generally prefers Cristalino tequilas because they seem softer and more approachable for him.
I personally don’t drink alcohol at all, so I honestly have no clue what’s actually good and what’s mostly marketing. That’s why I’m asking the hive mind here.
I’ve currently been looking at:
Maestro Dobel Diamante
1800 Cristalino
maybe some additive-free Cristalinos like Volcan
Do you guys have recommendations for:
very smooth Cristalino tequilas
minimal burn
slightly sweet / vanilla / barrel notes
good sipping tequila for someone who dislikes harsh spirits
Budget is roughly around $40–50 depending on availability in the European market.
Would really appreciate any recommendations 🙏
