Need recommendations

I would like a recommendations on a tequila(s) that is or has a sweet mouth feel/taste when served chilled and neat as a shot or sipper. Or just a general neat recommendation.

What's the best reposado in your opinion?

There's a general consensus for every other expression( Anejos = Fortaleza and 1146 and maybe wild common, XA = Tears of llorona, Tapatio excellencia, blancos = fuenteseca, cascahuin tahona, calle 23 criollo), but reposado has never had clear standouts compared to the others. I used to not be a big fan of repos because of underwhelming core lineup products but LL's amburana cask and their high proof needs more attention in this server as well tierra de ensueno's rum cask.

Need suggestions on Reposado

I am updating my Tequila collection and need to purchase 1 bottle each of Blanco, Reposado and Anejo all additive free. I already bought the Blanco (Ocho Plata) and plan on getting Fortaleza Anejo (If it ever becomes available in southern CT) which leaves me with needing to decide on the Reposado. I would like to get a different brand and have read and seen good reviews on G4, Siete Leguas, El Tosoro, Cazcanes and Mijenta Reposados. Any thoughts on what I should select also considering how it will “fit” between the other two selections?

References for tequila Arette

Hello tequila community!

I was exploring a liquor store I’ve never been to before, and the salesperson recommended tequila Arette, which is the picture attached. It is not a brand I had seen before but he said it’s a good product with quality from a family owned distillery. A quick search on the internet indicates the distillery has been around for a long time.

Does anyone have any prior experience with it? Is it comparable to Ocho? He mentioned something about an artisanal process to make it. I have not tried it yet, Im saving it for a special occasion in a couple of days, but I am interested in hearing if others have tried it.

My regulars at home are Ocho and El Tesoro, but I enjoy exploring new experiments every once in a while.

Thank you for your input.

Time for a pipe !!!

Hi !
As you might be already familiar, I am an upcycling nerd , love it , but the most that I love it’s a project where the piece came from the trash. Literally, the trash, the dumpster, the sidewalk. Today I give you a different perspective and I will like to know how do you feel about it.

Building up my liquor cabinet! Thoughts?

Hey yall, I’ve recently fallen in love with trying different tequilas and wanted to begin building a quality liquor cabinet. I’m looking for something to sip neat, something for mixing, something for shots, and something quality on the less expensive side. I’ve done some research and came across these 4 that have my attention, my question is, is my starting 4 looking to shape up nicely? I’d love some opinions from some seasoned tequila drinkers. I’m very new to this so I’d appreciate any input or recommendations!

Might I add, I like the idea of variety, which is why I went for one of each kind of tequila, I chose 2 reposados because I’ve come to enjoy it most

Looking for a good sippin Tequila that pairs well with cigars, lemme hear what yall think 🤔

Of course a cup of coffee may be objectively the best drink to pair with a cigar😉 BUT..
I’ve really tried the whiskey route and.. I just can’t get on board. Maybe a watered down Buffalo Trace but that’s about as far as I’ll go. I’ve always loved the flavor of a good tequila. After traveling to Mexico and doing the whole “Real tequila tastings” etc.. I’ve grown a closer fondness to broadening my palate when it comes to tequilas. Let me hear what yall like or recommend!!

Finally got to try two of the most talked about.(That I've seen)

Both are quite good. Normally used to drinking 1800 and Altos, I do still like both of those. The Ocho is easily my new favorite though.

T8ke scale tequila reviews?

I wonder why r/tequila hasn’t adopted a scoring system similar to the T8ke scale that is practically default across whiskey Reddit?

El Caballito Cerro Unicorn Chato or Azul

I have have the chance to get either of these bottles from a local source. Anyone have any input about them? Which is better or more worth the price?

G4 Blanco vs Volans?

So I tried Volans Reposado about 2 years ago. I remember it being smooth but having an earthy taste to it. I'm getting back into tequila again and G4 Blanco is next on my list. When I watch reviews, the flavor profile they describe sounds similar to what I remember about Volans. Then I found out they were produced at the same distillery. Check Agave Matchmaker... both have the exact same rating.

Has anyone tried both blancos? I searched but couldn't find a head to head comparison.

Suerte still strength- something is off

Anyone have experience with Suerte still strength? I popped a bottle and feel like it’s not properly distilled. It tastes like nail polish which for me means it was not refined properly. That might be mixing with a bit of their funkiness factor. But I tasted this with 5 other folks who have good tequila palates and we all decided this is pretty much undrinkable. We also used some for mixed drinks hoping to not waste it but it made them taste like acetone as well. I’m deciding on pouring the rest down the drain.

Just odd for a 55 plus bottle.

I’ll also mention I drink and enjoy many still strength tequilas. The hotness of the alcohol isn’t the issue. The taste is just awful. Nothing like Tapatio. Wild common. Volans

Just wondering if it’s a bad batch of this is normal unpolished distilling.

Gift from big brother

Had been discussing this one with my brother and he surprised me with a bottle today. Can't wait to pour me a glass here in a bit.

Tapatio In Cancun

I will be in Cancun next month and looking for some good Tequlia. I heard it is kind of hit or miss in Cancun. Does anyone know if Tapatio is available in or around Cancun?

It’s an Extra Añejo Kind of Sunday: 2 Old vs. 2 New

Today’s lineup turned into a fun little showdown: two newer additions to the shelf versus two bottles that have been favorites for a while.

The first newcomer is the House of Rare Extra Añejo, which just arrived from SIP Tequila on Friday. Naturally, I had to open it right away. I gave it a proper pour and was genuinely impressed. Rich caramel, cooked agave, dark chocolate, and plenty of oak, but still balanced and elegant. The finish went on forever. One of those pours that immediately tells you you’re in for something serious.

The second new bottle is Cascahuín Extra Añejo. I opened it last night and couldn't stop drinking haha (see pic that was all me). It carries that signature Cascahuín character, with beautiful agave notes still present beneath layers of vanilla, spice, and mature oak. Powerful but incredibly refined.

Representing the “old guard” are two bottles I always enjoy.

First is Herencia Histórico 5 Year Extra Añejo. This one is very hard to find, so I tend to save it for special occasions. Every time I open it, it reminds me why I treasure it. Deep, complex, and wonderfully integrated.

Last is Orendain 7 Year Extra Añejo, which is currently the oldest tequila in my collection. And yes, part of the fun is simply pouring the oldest bottle on the shelf.

Four excellent extra añejos, to chill proper on this nice weather, and a nice cigar.

PS photo credit to wifey, she says she takes better pics than me.
