Whatever Brand Tequila

Hii, does anyone know of places that would sell the brand of tequila called Whatever? Went to a bar and ordered tequila shots, bartender asked what we wanted, and we said bottom shelf (unpicky 20 somethings). She said "Well it's whatever." We laugh, thinking it's a joke, then she pulls out a bottle with a pink label that literally says Whatever as the brand.

I liked it, so I'd like to buy some but google shows zero results.

Volans Añejo first fill vs second fill

Was incredibly lucky to find a bottle of the first batch of Volans Añejo, this was the “first fill” of these barrels which I would imagine were refilled for batch 2. The color difference is very noticeable as you can see, it’s even darker than the 3 and 7 year extra añejos in the second picture. I love the 2nd fill, it could very easily be the best añejo I’ve had, it’s leathery tobacco notes balance so well w the 1579 minerality. I think the 3 year extra añejo is even better though, it drinks almost like a reposado and has so much more flavor and agave than any other XA I’ve had. I’m currently going to save the first fill and the 7 year for special occasions/ life accomplishments. Has anyone here tried them all and if yes how would you compare the first fill to the 2nd fill and the rest of the bunch? TLDR: the first fill anejo looks crazy dark and I love Volans, lol.

Carajillo

Spent some time at the lake this afternoon and mostly drank beer there. Decided I’d switch to tequila for the night and then heard my first firework. We have a very anxious beagle who hates fireworks, so I figured what better way to start the night than with a carajillo!

1.5 oz Licor 43
1.5 oz blanco
2 oz fresh espresso

The citrus and vanilla from the Licor 43 complement the tequila perfectly. And the espresso brings some additional sweetness and bitterness to cut the agave and vanilla. ¡Salud!

My 4th line-up

Most of these are constantly talked about and for good reason. The El Tequileno was a recommendation that I've gone back to a few times now. In the $55 range and it's dam good. Of the best, it's a dual between 1414 and Cazcanes for me. Next bottle I'm going to grab will probably be Wild Common as I've yet to try it. Enjoy your 4th everyone!

Patriotic Enough? Everyone be safe this weekend! 🇺🇸🇲🇽

I’ve been very limited in my tequila purchases this year.

Visited my local speciality store on my day off. Had some paralysis by analysis between a few options: Amatitena Origen ($70), Ocho SB Repo ($80), Atanasio Anejo ($95).

Ended up seeing a deal on El Tesoro Mundial (Knob Creek) for $85 and ran with that.
Knob Creek 12 Bourbon and Knob Creek 10 Rye are shelf staples for me most of the year, so I figured I’d add this for the rest of summer (great pour for this Argentina v. Cabo Verde thriller!!!)

Cheers everyone, enjoy the 4th!

My agave vertical of the evening

Won’t be able to replicate this for a while. Still working through the tasting and quite impressed with the Manuscripto nose, the Wild Common palate (agave fibers and Buffalo Trace barrels), the pleasant heat and soft baking spices on the SB Ocho Anejo and I’m about to get to Tears of Llorona. Worth it for the opportunity alone.

You can only drink one brand for the rest of your life

What is yours? Must be regularly available and not a grail - I think El Tesoro is my absolute favorite lineup, their Blanco is always available in my collection.

I think what makes this brand stand out to me is the price point, quality and ability to drink straight or mixed - I don't feel guilty making a marg out of it like I would with Fortaleza or Cascahuin which are more sippers IMO.

Also these two bottles are fantastic, finally tried Ocho and it definitely lives up to the hype.

Recent additions

The Vivo I really like, smokey enough to make it mezcal-ish.

The De Nada was a star, don’t like the bottle design though, you can’t see how much is left (it’s empty). Plus its a 700ml. But it was excellent, will be buying again.

The Siete Leguas SS I havent tried yet.

Need to spend more time with Alto Canto.

I’m usually doing margs with blanco but enjoy a good sipper.

Decisons, decisions…

I’m trying to decide what my next blanco bottle should be. I live in a state with dumb liquor laws, so I usually have to travel out of state to find “niche” brands. Some of the deals that are shared on this subreddit wouldn’t happen here; for example, the only brand worth buying at my local Costco is Tesoro, and it’s $40ish. I’m about to travel this weekend and am torn between these choices (1st pic). (I posted a list of the tequila brands I currently own in the second pic before anyone suggests a brand that’s already on my shelf.)

If it helps, so far, I’ve enjoyed G4 de Madera, Cazcanes, and Siete Leguas the most. I’ve heard Mijenta is more floral and complex, so I was curious about those notes. But I seem to also like Tahona crushed tequilas, so I was eyeing the Cascahuin Tahona blanco. For that price tag, though, I could buy the regular blanco AND Mijenta.

Anyone have any experience with these brands that could share some advice? Or if anyone has other suggestions, I’m all ears! Thanks in advance!

Finally got me a bottle of Tapatio Blanco Tequila

I heard great things about Tapatio tequila and since we can't get it here in Ohio I had to buy it from Hi Proof. My bottle arrived yesterday and man this is one great bottle of tequila. I already had a few pours and made me a Tommy's Margarita. For what I paid for this will become a regular. I just now need to try the reposado and the anejo.

San Diego tequila

Greetings,

I’ll be in San Diego in the coming weeks and would like to know places with good tequila selection to bring a few bottles home with me.

I definitely plan to have a look in Costco and total wine but wanted to get other’s input. Here in the east coast we don’t often get the same bottle opportunities as you Californians.

Though personally i can find pretty good selection like G4, tesoro, seite leguas, and tapatio fairly regularly I’m wondering what the west coast has in store.

Thanks

Cimmarron

Is it just me or is the Blanco very similar to G4’s Blanco? I found it on sale for 1999 and have been sipping on this for the past few months and don’t get me wrong G4. Blanco is one of my favorite sipping tequilas.

ArteNom Seleccion 1146 Añejo.

While in jalisco last may, i ended up trying all the goodies at the hotel bar. i went on a hunt and grab some añejos. Today i opened this and absolutely love the profile on this exceptional blend coming out of the Tequileña distillery. The Cabernet influence is apparent, this añejo is quite fruity. I found plum, apple, grape, honey, and dark chocolate. In addition to the wine barrel aging, white American oak is added to the blend which brought out flavors of vanilla, caramel & a hint of nuttiness. The finish was a bit tannic & drying, but lasted for quite some time. As much as I like this delicious wood driven añejo.

Turks Grocery Store Find $177 - Tapatio Excelencia

Found this on vacation in T&C for 1L for $177. Insane, Don Julio 1L was just as much and other garbage like 818 and Patron was crazy expensive.

Best find in years! Must finish before Saturday though…

Need advice picking from the limited available options

I'm new to Tequila. I have recently discovered Tommy's margaritas, and I love them. I bought a bottle of Olmeca Altos Plata at my local liquor store, made some Tommy's margaritas, and enjoyed them. I started learning more about tequila, and am wondering if any of the other blancos available to me might improve the margarita. I bought a bottle of Corzo silver (mostly because it was on sale, marked down to $29 from $39), but I thought it was worse than the Altos. The Corzo seemed to be lacking in agave flavor so much that in the margarita you really couldn't even taste agave. So before I just start blowing money on more bottles, I thought I would ask people more knowledgeable than myself as to which ones they would try. Based on the limited reading I've done, am I correct to conclude the only blancos on this list which might make a better margarita than the Altos would be Tres Agave, LALO, and Ocho? This is not for sipping - just for Tommy's margaritas. Thanks for any help!

The blancos available to me at my liquor store in North Carolina are:

El Tesoro Single Barrel

I don’t know a lot about this or this type of limited edition. But, I bought this on a whim, and it is absolutely fantastic! I’m about to go down a rabbit hole of research. I guess to figure out how different each version or variation of these are or if they are all basically the same thing. If you see this, grab it it’s phenomenal.
