Advice before making appt with Catholic Priest
I was converted when I experienced a profound moment of God's Grace through a teaching of Orthodoxy. Because of that I believe Orthodoxy is probably the truest church, or at least the church God reached me through.
Its been almost four years since that moment and while I don't have a churxh near me, I've watched an Orthodox Sermon online every Sunday. I'm on my second reading of the bible. I say my prayer rope. I've read Ware, the Sayings of the Desert Fathers, On the Incarnation...etc you get the point.
I've tried to attend an Orthodox church three times (when I was in the area) and only made it inside once. The people were wonderful and lovely. The drive si just too far and moving isnt an option.
I wasn't raised religious but was baptized Catholic as an infant. At seven, I was mistakenly enrolled in a Christian Bible Study and was taught to memorize the Lord's Prayer before someone realized the mistake and put me back in math class. At ten, I accidentally took communion at a friend's church (no idea what denom). My point is that God has met me where I am, all my life, without me noticing.
There is a Catholic Church near me and I was thinking maybe God will meet me there, too. I don't want to be Catholic. I will keep my prayer rope and not take communion...but I want Church in my life. I don't want my spiritual life to be almost all online. It doesnt seem healthy.
So I was going to ask for an appointment with the Catholic Church and talk about that, and just thought...here's one last chance to get a final opinion from the only Orthodox community I know.
