After one year since my surgery with this doctor, I decided to share my experience so people can better understand the reality of what these procedures can be like.
It’s very easy to be influenced by social media. What I want people to understand is that on these platforms, doctors usually show only their successful cases. This particular doctor invests a lot of time and effort into his image and marketing. There are also patients who promote him very aggressively, always presenting him as ‘the best.’ From the outside, you really have no way of knowing what’s behind those posts or whether there are any incentives involved.
In my case, I underwent a secondary rhinoplasty with him. For the price I paid ($12,500), I had very high expectations. At first, everything seemed to be going well, especially in the immediate before-and-after photos. But as the months passed, the results began to change in a negative way. What concerns me most is not just the aesthetic outcome, but the fact that I now have difficulty breathing, something I never imagined when I made this decision.
Looking back, I now live with regret. I feel that I could have avoided these health issues if this doctor and his team had been clear from the beginning about the risks and possible complications. But that wasn’t the case. Their approach seems to focus on getting the patient to pay first, and only later when there’s no turning back, do they explain what can really happen. By that point, after investing so much money and knowing it won’t be refunded, you feel pressured to continue, even if you have doubts or fears. In the end, it doesn’t feel like a fully informed or free decision, but rather one influenced by financial pressure.
Over time, I had the misfortune of my results worsening, and what’s even more frustrating is that when you try to seek help, you’re left dealing mostly with his assistants who eventually stop responding. And if you do manage to see Dr. Paez, he tends to shift the blame onto you and does not offer any real solution. As a doctor, he shows a lack of empathy and human understanding.
Although these surgeries are often presented as safe, what I want to make clear is that there are risks and complications you can’t always avoid. What really bothers me is that many people who defend this doctor online tend to always blame the patient, saying they “didn’t follow postoperative instructions,” when in reality many complications are inherent to the procedure and can happen even if everything is done correctly. This is just something doctors don’t like to admit publicly.
If you are considering cosmetic surgery, look beyond the advertising. Seek independent testimonials, make sure you fully understand the risks, and carefully review all contracts before making any payments. This is your body and your well-being. I am not sharing this out of resentment, but because I wish I had read something like this before making such an important decision, one that now affects my daily life.
