Anyone else see the irony that VideoGameEsoterica uses this subreddit as a vehicle for spamming his videos?
Props to this guy. The first step to addressing your addiction is admitting you have a problem.

Everything is a remake or tired sequel. Thank you our lord and savior Jesus Christ for Nintendo. They are the only ones giving us new and inventive games like Star Fox and Ocarina of Time.
Can people stop telling people to shut up about the pose?
Talk about perpetual whiners...

This is a personal project that I'm probably not going to publish, but the challenge I made to myself was to create a Star Fox clone based on my dog and generally achieve a convincing SuperFX aesthetic. I spent about 4 hours on this in total just to give you context on the scope and the (surprisingly little) amount of fucking around I had to do with Codex. I'm kind of figuring out my workflows still -- I have a skill/script to scale down AI-generated pixel art, but otherwise this was pure back and forth Codex. A lot of the assets had to be created outside of Codex. It's currently a single level, but if I end up completing this, I'll follow back up with the results.
If there's one finding to take away from this -- it's that while these LLM models suck at generating usable model geometry for most circumstances, they are good enough for Super FX-quality models.
Here's my stack:
Music: Suno
Title Screen Art: gpt-image-2
Sound Effects: Eleven Labs
Enemy/ship geometry: Gemini 3.1 Pro
Coding: GPT-5.5 high via codex
