“ AIO” am I tripping?
So my dad passed a little over a month ago, and ever since then the family has been going crazy over the policies and money situation. One of the policies was through MetLife, and both me and my mom were listed on it. My parents were married for almost 15 years before they divorced, and my dad never updated some of the policies afterward.
MetLife recently told me that I’m more than likely the sole payout beneficiary, meaning the money would go to me. On Friday (5/8/26), I got an email saying my claim had been paid and that the details would arrive in the mail. The money is being direct deposited into my account, so there’s no physical check coming.
What’s been bothering me is the situation with the mailbox key. Before, whenever I asked for it, it was always “I’ll bring the mail” or “I’ll leave the key by the door.” But now that MetLife mail is coming, it suddenly feels like there’s more control around the mail situation. I’m trying to figure out if I’m overthinking it or if it genuinely seems like she’s trying to control access to information about the payout. The second photo is months ago when I asked for the mailbox key.
