Did a deep dive on this sub and didn’t see much recent talk about sulfur burps… so here we go.

I’ve been having the most disgusting burps imaginable, and once it starts, it turns into a full day of vomiting + my stomach completely betraying me. Bloating, cramps, feeling like there’s trapped gas from hell… the whole experience. I’ve missed multiple days of work because of it.

Finally went to urgent care today. Bloodwork, IV fluids, CT scan (they were worried about appendix/gallbladder/kidneys because the pain was so bad). Diagnosis: GI bacterial infection.

The kicker? Likely caused by not eating enough and not drinking enough water. I usually eat one solid meal a day and barely drink water (I know, I know). They also told me to talk to my doctor about stopping Wegovy — I’m on the 9 mg pill and about 2.5 weeks in, been on Wegovy for about 3 months now.

After reading here, the sulfur burps make more sense. Wegovy slows digestion, so high-sulfur foods (like red meat and dairy) just… sit there. And yep—every time I’ve gotten sick, it’s been after eating one of those.

Now I’m on antibiotics and cutting out high-sulfur foods for a bit.

Moral of the story: eat regularly and drink water… or you’ll be like me—35 lbs down in 3 months but fighting for your life in the bathroom. SW: 222 CW: 186

Signed, a very sad former foodie who misses cheese 🥲
