Good doctors are worth their weight in gold
Hello all! I am new to this sub, but since i now have a formal diagnosis i thought why not look up some communities around it.
I wanted to share a very positive experience after hearing so many horror stories about the difficulties surrounding a diagnosis. Multiple therapists and doctors have been suspecting I might be on the spectrum for a while now, but my official date for a clinical diagnosis would have been months from now (as would be expected, the system isnt the best where i live)
Recently i changed psychiatrist after a long and stressful move. My patient histroy by now is long and pretty complex, so i sent all documents some weeks before. When i came in yesterday he sat me down to tell me i can cancel the appointment for a formal diagnosis. He will diagnose me immediately, spare me the hassle and wait, because he read my files and knew what was up just from that (as he is neurodivergent himself and has been through many similar experiences) Obviously he still asked lots of questions, about 90 minutes of talking about my childhood, my struggles, my habits and behaviour, to be absolutely sure. But in the end he was certain i am indeed autistic and he gave me the formal diagnosis right then and there.
Im posting this into the void mostly, since i dont really have much time to be online at the moment, but i thought why not share some positivity? Hopefully this kind of luck finds you all too. Stay strong out there, good people do exist.
