Not everyone at multilingual weddings can actually follow the speeches… so we built something for it

At a lot of multilingual weddings/events, there’s this weird thing where half the room is deeply emotional during speeches… and the other half is kind of just smiling politely because they can’t fully understand what’s being said.

Especially with:

  • international families
  • destination weddings
  • mixed-language couples
  • older relatives
  • guests who speak conversational English but struggle with emotional speeches

We kept thinking:
there has to be a better option than printed translations or forcing people to awkwardly whisper-translate during dinner.

So we started building something called Together Told.

Guests scan a QR code, choose their language and follow speeches from their own phone during the event. No app or login needed.

The organiser can:

  • prepare speeches beforehand
  • review/edit translations
  • customise colours
  • control speeches live
  • let guests change text size themselves

Still early, but seeing relatives properly react to speeches they would’ve otherwise missed has honestly been really emotional.

I genuinely don’t know if this is a niche problem or something loads of people experience, but would love honest thoughts from people planning multilingual weddings/events.
