Is it within Starbucks policy to be written up by your manager for calling out sick when you have protected sick time? I’m a SSV and our store manager just took two of my baristas off the floor and told them “protected sick hours only protect your pay I can still punish you” and gave them write ups. We were under the impression that protected sick time “protected” you from actions such as this but now are unsure. Can anyone help?

Edit:

All I could find online was this “Any Sick Time that falls under the Protected Sick Time category is job-protected. Protected Sick Time is time accrued in the current calendar year, plus up to 80 hours of any accrued Sick Time from the previous calendar year.”
