Orchid Mantis acting drunk, weak, and keeps falling. Any ideas?
Hi everyone,
As you can see in the video, my orchid mantis has been behaving very strangely since yesterday.
She almost seems drunk. One moment she is very active, moving around and climbing normally, and then suddenly she becomes extremely weak and lethargic, almost as if she is dying. After a while she seems to recover and becomes active again, only for the same thing to happen shortly afterward.
Because of these sudden changes, she keeps climbing to higher spots, stays there for a bit, and then loses her grip and falls down. She has been repeating this cycle over and over again throughout the day.
When I first noticed it yesterday, I honestly thought she was about to die, but today she is still doing the same thing repeatedly. The constant switching between being active and looking completely exhausted has me very worried.
Some additional information:
* Can't tell if she is female or male
* I live in Germany and bought her from an online store (Insektenliebe)
* I've only had her for about a week.
* She is really small (L3)
* I've been feeding her only small fruit flies and houseflies.
* I provide fresh water daily and have seen her drink.
* The enclosure contains only real plants.
* Average temperature: 27-28°C during the day, around 20°C at night.
* Humidity: 70-80% during the day and 90-100% at night.
Has anyone experienced something similar or knows what might be causing this? Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you!
