Help

My mantis changed her skin 2 weeks ago and now has a crease at the end of the abdomen that doesn't allow them to stretch it out. So I decided to put it in a hospital-like container with absorbent paper and with sphagnum in the bottom to avoid further damage if it falls; but it is very good at climbing on smooth walls so (without thinking) I used Teflon in the ceiling so it could not climb but when it tried to hang up it wet its front legs and in panic I dried the teflon more but by now it was wet. Could he die for this mistake? How can I save her?(I don't have pictures where he bends his abdomen but bends it up to the head).

I’m looking to buy a Conhead mantis, anyone know where I can get one?

I’m looking for a conehead mantis, their scientific name is Empusa pennata. And their also called the Devils Mare Mantis
I know they’re from parts of Europe and Africa but I’m just hoping there’s a breeder here in Orange or Los Angeles county for these attractive little guys. 🤞🏻

I’m a beginner mantis owner, is this enclosure okay?

So I’m fairly new to owning mantids, I used to have a ghost mantis and that lived a year, but I’m getting a Giant Asian Shield mantis that is in instar 4-5, so I’m wondering if this enclosure will be good? Also yes I am installing a mesh top with double-sided mounting tape it’s arriving tomorrow. The enclosure is 20x20x35 and I’m using Exo Terra coconut fiber substrate. Much thanks!

Does anyone else struggle with a clingy mantis?

So, i'm not complaining too much about her but I have a Chinese mantis named Colonizer and this little lady so so clingy. She's about the 4th molt I think? i'm still feeding her flies for the time being but I might upgrade her prey very soon. Feeding her has been a pain in the bum because she wants to sit on my hand. That's what she likes to do and it's hard to get her back in the tank while the flies are getting out of the tank. She just molted about maybe late morning the day before and i'm not supposed to handle her for 48 hours! girl get back in the tank your stressing me out!

I love her but darn it is she clingy!

Did my mantis ate too much?

I accidentally putted many flies in her terrarium and she started to catch them and eat. I noticed she looks a little bit bloated, is this notmal? She's L4 Hierodula transcaucasica.

Its so confusing to search the answers online because some sources say mantises cant overeat because they naturally stop when not hungry and others say that they can die from overeating and Im confused...

Large mantis clinging to my car for hours

Hi! Around noon, I found a very large (4-5 inches) mantis clinging onto the rim above my car tire. I was driving around town, so I’m surprised it didn’t fall off.

It’s a very hot day and I’m worried about its condition. I’m honestly too afraid to move it given its large size, so I backed my car into a shaded area with grass, rocks, and a nearby pool. I also dipped two cotton balls with water and placed them on top of the tire, hoping the mantis could suckle some water to stay hydrated. After five hours, it’s still there clinging, and it seems a bit more lethargic. I feel so bad. Is there anything else I can do to help this precious being?

Can it go back in to the wilderness?

So I happened to find this mantis on the stairs, thankfully no one stepped on it. My concern is whether it can be released back to nature as when it walks the front arm is being dragged behind. Can they make it with one arm for hunting in the wilderness? I don't know much about mantises 😫

Has this ootheca hatched yet?

Found this ootheca in an outlet box outside. Has it hatched yet and is this an adequate incubator if not?
