What Certifications/Courses Actually Help for Entry-Level Jobs and Avoiding Resume Gaps?
Hi Everyone!
I graduated last Saturday with a degree in Supply Chain Management, and while I had a internship and relevant campus leadership experience, I’m worried about having any noticeable “gap” on my resume while job searching. Right now I’m actively applying to supply chain, procurement, operations, and analyst-type roles, but I’d love to use this time productively and strengthen my resume even more.
Are there any certifications, courses, or technical skills you’d recommend for someone early-career in supply chain/operations? I already have experience with Excel, Tableau, Alteryx, KPI reporting, procurement coursework, and fulfillment operations from my internship.
I’ve looked at things like:
- APICS/ASCM certifications
- Lean Six Sigma
- SQL
- Power BI
- SAP training
- Coursera/LinkedIn Learning certificates
But I’m not sure which ones recruiters actually value for entry-level roles vs which are mostly fluff.
Would especially love advice from recruiters, hiring managers, or people who recently landed entry-level supply chain/procurement jobs:
- What certifications actually helped you get interviews?
- What skills are most in demand right now?
- Are there any affordable/free programs worth doing?
- How would you explain the post-grad period on a resume/LinkedIn without it looking bad?
Thanks!!
