Update 2#: my virtual WING (running the real firmware) now makes sound, with EQ and compression, slowly

Follow-up to https://www.reddit.com/r/livesoundgear/s/htqXGb10zX about a software WING that runs the console’s own firmware (WING Rack 3.1.1) instead of a re-creation of it. The goal is still a real virtual sound check at home: play back a multitrack recording through the actual WING’s processing on my PC, and mix it on the console’s own interface.

Last time I ended with a list of what didn’t work. Here’s where those stand:

  • No audio → it plays sound now. Audio goes through the console’s own emulated input and bus DSPs and out of MAIN 1 on my speakers. My Scarlett comes in as local inputs (didn't show in the video), and a WAV loops on USB 1/2 (in the video).
    • When I move a fader on WING Edit, the firmware itself writes the new value into the DSP that’s making the sound.
    • Which channel hears which source comes from the firmware’s own routing.
    • EQ and the compressor work too. Changing them on the console’s screen changes what I hear, because the console’s own EQ and dynamics run on the emulated input DSP.
  • No network → WING Edit connects. The console answers discovery, and WING Edit talks to it like a real WING.
  • About a third of real time → the console runs at about half real time. The audio DSPs run at about 0.6×, and that’s the catch: the sound has gaps. The audio itself is correct (an offline render of the same DSP state comes out clean); there just isn’t enough of it per second yet.

One thing to know while watching: when I click out of the command window (the emulator runs from there and isn't shown in the video) into the browser to change something, the sound gets noticeably worse: more gaps and more crackle. That’s not the EQ or the compressor doing it; it happens just by switching windows. Windows gives the window you’re using more CPU time than background ones, and the emulator is already short on speed. Most likely it loses just enough when it’s in the background to get worse. With the command window focused, it’s only gaps.

What’s still missing:

  • Speed. Each DSP runs on one CPU thread flat out, while the rest of the CPU sits mostly idle. The next step is spreading each DSP’s work over more cores.
  • The FX DSPs in the live path. They boot and run, but FX inserts are silent live for now.
  • The XMOS and the FPGA’s audio side still aren’t emulated. My own code moves audio in and out of the DSPs where the FPGA would, and it takes the routing from the firmware itself.
  • No comparison against a recording from a real WING yet.

The setup is the same as before. The i.MX6 ARM application runs on Unicorn. The four ADSP-214xx SHARC DSPs run on an interpreter built for this project, with a C version checked against it instruction by instruction.

What’s new is that the DSPs answering the console are the same ones making the sound, each in its own process. Between blocks of audio, each one takes the console’s control messages through its own firmware, exactly as it does on the real hardware.

Follow-up #2: Behringer FLOWCASTER is real, officially listed as a "podcast studio". Same database shows FLOW 8C, XT20, Midas HD96-32/40 and more

Follow-up to my last post: https://www.reddit.com/r/livesoundgear/comments/1wuuipl/followup_unannounced_device_behringer_flowcaster/

Quick recap: Behringer's own Windows FLOW driver (v6.0.0, Dec 2025) lists an unannounced device called "BEHRINGER FLOWCASTER" (USB ID 1397:0513), and WING firmware 3.1.x knows it as a StageConnect device. We didn't know what it actually was.

Now we do. Every Bluetooth product has to be registered with the Bluetooth SIG, and their database is public. Search "MUSIC TRIBE SERVICES PH" here: https://www.bluetooth.com/qualified-products/

>FLOWCASTER: Behringer Digital Mixers
"Fully Integrated 8-Channel Podcast Studio with SD Recording and Custom Trigger Pads"

This lines up exactly with the driver. Its USB channels are MIC 1–4 + CH 5-6, 7-8, 9-10, 11-12 + MAIN MIX, which makes 8 channels. So it's a RØDECaster-style podcast console: SD recording, trigger pads, Bluetooth, and StageConnect to hook into a WING. The name is final; it hasn't been renamed. One more detail from the driver: it was signed by Microsoft in Dec 2025 with FLOWCASTER's hardware ID in it, so this has been a planned product for a while.

The same listing page also contains several other unannounced products (no product page, retailer or news anywhere):

Behringer

  • FLOW 8C: "8-Input Digital Mixer with Bluetooth Audio and App Control, Dual-Stage 138 dB Mic Preamps, 60 mm Faders, 2 FX Processors and USB-C Audio Interface with 32-Bit Float Recording". Looks like the FLOW 8 successor (USB-C + FLOW 4V preamps and 32-bit float). Some shops already list the FLOW 8 as discontinued.
  • XT20: under "Behringer Digital Stagebox Mixers" (the X AIR category): "Digital Mixer with Touch Display". My guess is an X AIR / XR18 successor with a built-in screen.
  • DX110 PRO / DX112 PRO / DX115 PRO: active 10/12/15" PA speakers, 1,000–1,800 W, DSP + 2-channel mixer

Midas

  • HD96-32: "120 Input Channels, 51 Mix Buses, Dual 96/48 kHz, Dual 18.5" Touch Screen, Touring Grade Road Case"
  • HD96-40: "up to 256 Input Channels, 192 Mix Buses, 96 kHz, Dual 21" Touch Screens"

Turbosound

  • A "-G2" (Generation 2) version of the whole iNSPIRE/iX range (iP300 to iP3000, iP12B/15B, iX12/15)

no dates, prices or photos. Apart from DX110/115 PRO, I couldn't find FCC filings for these yet, so a launch probably isn't days away. The HD96-32/40 might also be older registrations that got delayed. The FLOW 8C / XT20 descriptions are quoted exactly; what they are is my interpretation.

Everything comes from public sources: Behringer's own driver download, its firmware, and the public Bluetooth SIG database. If you dig through the listings and spot something I missed, post it below.

Behringer Behringer SC-ADAT is real: unannounced 16×16 ADAT - StageConnect

A while ago I posted about some device names in the WING firmware that don't match any released product: SC-AES50, SC-AES3, SC-ADAT and FLOWCASTER https://www.reddit.com/r/livesoundgear/s/PJ06t4nMhx.

Quick update: SC-ADAT now has its own section on Behringer's official documentation site, with an intro, connectors, routing, setup examples and specs:
https://docs.behringer.com/mixers/sc-adat

As far as I can tell it hasn't been announced anywhere. There's no product page on behringer.com, no retailer listing, and it wasn't part of the SC line shown at NAMM (SC16-I, SC16-O, SC88, SC-U, SC-RE). The pages look like they went up in the last few days.

What the docs say:

  • 16×16 optical ADAT - StageConnect converter at 48 kHz / 24-bit. It uses all 32 StageConnect channels: 16 ADAT inputs go upstream, 16 ADAT outputs come back downstream.
  • Built-in sample rate conversion, so the ADAT side can run at 44.1 or 48 kHz independently of the StageConnect clock. 96 kHz isn't supported.
  • SYNC button: the ADAT outputs follow either the console's StageConnect clock or the clock arriving on ADAT input 1–8.
  • Ports: 2× TOSLINK in, 2× TOSLINK out, StageConnect client and host ports for daisy-chaining, and USB-C for power and firmware updates. No MIDI.
  • "ADAT tunnel": put one SC-ADAT at each end and you can run ADAT up to 40 m over a StageConnect cable, instead of the usual 5–10 m of optical.
  • Size: tiny, 46 × 82 × 123 mm, 0.35 kg.

The page also has official panel drawings and a setup diagram with a WING, so this is clearly a real product and not just a leftover name in the firmware.

For WING users, this would be a cheap way to add 16×16 ADAT without an expansion card, which people have been asking for for years.

Possible unreleased Behringer StageConnect devices?

I was digging through the WING firmware and came across a few interesting device names that I can’t seem to match to currently released Behringer products:

SC-AES50
SC-AES3
SC-ADAT
FLOWCASTER

The first three are especially interesting because they fit Behringer’s StageConnect naming pretty well.

the names speak for them self:

StageConnect AES50
StageConnect AES3
StageConnect ADAT

FLOWCASTER is harder to guess, but the name sounds like it could belong to the FLOW family.

What makes this more interesting is that these names appear alongside known devices such as:

P24, DN4816-O, DN4816-I, DN4888, DN4816U, SC88, SC16-I, SC16-O, SC-U, FLOW4V, FLOW4VIO and SC-RE.

So they don’t look like completely random strings.

Obviously, this doesn’t mean any of them are definitely going to be released. They could be old concepts, prototypes, cancelled products, reserved device IDs, or something planned for later.
