Joining Zen next week - Existing UniFi network

Hi, I’m joining Zen next week as their full fibre is finally available in my area. Prior to this, I’ve been stuck with Virgin Media as they were the only provider in my area that offered fibre and decent speeds. What’s my current set-up? I have my virgin media router in modem mode and I have my UniFi Dream Router 7 connected to this which I use as my router.

I’ve been doing some research prior to the installation next week, just to make sure I know what I’m doing when my connection is swapped over to Zen. The install is being done via openreach. Does anyone have any experience with setting up a unifi router with Zen? For example, do I need to put the Fritz box into modem mode or can I connect the the UniFi router directly to the ONT box that they’ll like install.

Moved from Fedora 44

I moved from Fedora 44 to Omarchy and so far so good, really enjoying the distro and all of the keyboard controls. I have everything set up and even used Claude to add some features like Apple Music and a keyboard brightness toggle in the toolbar.

Framework 13 (Intel 12th Gen)

Installed Omarchy 4.0 on my Framework 13 today. Spent today getting used to the OS and setting with everything. Absolutely loving it so far. Install took just over 1 min to install on my machine. The OS feels super quick and snappy 👌 really loving the AI integration. Was able to use Claude to set everything up for me like changing the direction of the trackpad scrolling etc

Fake F-91W from Amazon

I had my doubts about the F-91W I purchased on Amazon, especially since it was listed under what appeared to be the official Casio store. Everything seemed to check out on the surface: the Casio branding, the screws on the case back, it all looked legitimate. But something about the display just didn’t sit right with me.

I decided to order directly from Casio’s website to compare, and the difference is immediately obvious. The photos don’t do it justice. It’s genuinely hard to convey through images alone, but the viewing angle on the genuine model is in a different league entirely. And the rubber strap? Miles better. The one from Casio feels noticeably more premium; the texture and quality of the rubber is something you have to feel to appreciate.
If you have any doubts about the authenticity of your F-91W, do yourself a favour and order directly from Casio’s website. The difference speaks for itself.

I joined the infamous f91w club

I came across this Reddit page a few weeks ago now and just had to pick one up. I understand the hype now. Perfect size, day, date and time, stopwatch and alarm, all for £15 what’s not to love! I think my Tudor BlackBay 54 will be getting even less wrist time.
