Subscription discounts and the customer acquisition business model.

Brutally honest here, I'm not impressed with what you get with Coursera.

However, there are some notable courses and I can still look at the postive side and appreciate whats there combined with some of the courses/training for certifications that arent avilable as part of Coursera. It's when you combine that with what follows that Coursera has become a no go for me.

Probably my biggest beef with coursera is the subscription model that operates like insurance and cable companies. Where you get no discount for renewing and being a LOYAL CUSTOMER. Guess what you get for being an early adopter and supporter of coursera back when it was free and before it was accquired by Google?Guess what you get when you just want to renew your subscription when a current sale is on for a coursera subscription?

You get to pay full price!

And for me, thats a really punch to the nuts. It shows so much arrogance and disdain for your customers. Its the type of move that a company makes when it doesnt care about the money or its customers because it has, or thinks it has, a monoply. So thats why I'm no long coursera fan and will no longer be a Coursera user going forward.

Designer Optics

I know other people have complained about them, I'm throwing my experience in as well.

Designer Optics sent me the wrong index, and the glasses had gaps between frames and lenses all the way around! I sent them an email immediately asking to return for a refund. The worst pair of glasses I've ever bought ANYWHERE!

They respond saying they dont refund if its a prescription and they are 1.67 index lenses ( but they are thicker than every other 1.67 index I have, which is like 4-5 different pairs). Worst experience I've had with a company in years. This was $250 of my hard earned money that I gave these people and they literally just shit in a box sent it to me and said , sorry about your luck when I requested a return. Huge waste of time and money. No reason for anyone to ever use them. My local companies in a rural town did much better work. Also, Zenni costs less than half and accepts returns for prescriptions.

YSK about The Work Number.

YSK about Equifax’s The Work Number that tracks your work and income history as a service for employers and creditors. The Work Number shows hire dates, pay, insurance, workers comp information, termination dates, and even reasons for terminations.

Why YSK: Multiple reasons you should know this but consider how your HR can easily lie to you because of this third party service. Your employer might say something to you like “we don’t disclose that information after you leave.” regarding terminations, pay, etc.. But your employer will use The Work Number and they will disclose that information and a lot more.
You can download your Work Number report for free and opt out by emailing them.
