Dual 12W3v3 subs or dual 12W6v3 subs?
Looking for some input from people who have experienced both setups if possible.
Years ago I had a single JL 12W3 in my 04 Mustang GT on a 750w amp and that thing absolutely HIT. Deep bass, chest pressure, smooth sound — loved it.
Fast forward to now, I’m in a Cadillac CTS and nothing I’ve tried has really satisfied me the same way. Recently found out a lot of my issues were tied to signal/integration problems with the factory premium system, not just the subs themselves.
I’m now planning a full JL setup and trying to decide between:
- Dual 12W3s or
- Dual 12W6s
Both are realistically within budget.
I care more about deep, clean, effortless bass than just loud trunk rattle. I want to FEEL the bass, not just hear noise.
For those who’ve actually heard or owned both:
- Would dual W3s likely satisfy me?
- Are dual W6s overkill for a CTS daily driver?
- Is the jump from dual W3 to dual W6 truly noticeable in real-world listening?
Feedback would be much appreciated, thank you
