Hello,

How are you?  Allow me to explain what I do and why I am here.

I run the most comprehensive YouTube channel (MojoPin1983) dedicated to Jeff Buckley footage.  Over the course of many years, I have done undercover detective work, accumulating a large collection of rare video material.  I am constantly on the lookout for new material to add to my library, as I have felt a calling to curate and preserve as much footage pertaining to Jeff — whether that be live performances, interviews, and other miscellaneous things — for posterity.

My goal is to compile the most complete archive of Jeff Buckley footage as possible in order to expand his legacy and help others to better understand and appreciate his unparalleled musical talents and other facets of his life.  I am aware of a plethora of video material that is out there and I am doing my best to obtain copies before it is too late and much of it inevitably gets lost to time, as it fades further into oblivion, and private owners pass on, and their footage is possibly discarded by their respective inheritors.

With that said, to make a long story short, a man named Randy, who I was speaking with up until last year, was in touch with a former MTV employee (he doesn't remember their name), about 20 years ago.  Said employee made a copy of Jeff’s MTV 120 Minutes outtakes (multiple takes — some unaired — of the songs, Grace, Last Goodbye, and So Real, in addition to an interview with Kennedy), straight from the master tape, at Randy's request.

Randy, at the time, was speaking with a collector/trader named Eric (who went by the nickname/email, New Homebrew).  Anyway, Randy, regrettably, just told his MTV contact to send the copy (VHS copy made from the master tape; I guess that would technically make it 2nd generation) straight to Eric for him to transfer.

Sadly, after this, Eric cut off communication with Randy.  So, it seems, that he (Eric) just exploited him in order to get this footage.  From what I have heard, Eric used a lot of people to acquire material, then hoarded it and ended up burning a lot of bridges with fellow collectors/traders.  Unfortunately, Eric is impossible to get in touch with.

Randy, however, had a really rough copy of the same footage, from some other unknown source, but it must 3rd or 4th generation (maybe more), and it has a time code on the screen, unlike Eric's master copy.  Randy's version is of atrocious quality, though.

I got screenshots of Eric's master copy from a defunct Jeff Buckley site that he ran, which was called, hard-luck.net (see link below).

Eric shared several video caps and details about this MTV footage that he acquired (copy and paste the link into your browser, if it doesn't open when you click on it): https://web.archive.org/web/20050523174307/http://hard-luck.net/v1995-01-10.htm

In 2009, three of the takes from this 120 Minutes appearance were released on the Jeff Buckley DVD, Grace Around the World, which can be found on my YouTube channel (MojoPin1983).

I know it’s a long shot, but would you happen to have have a cleaner copy of this footage or know who this mysterious MTV employee was?  In the event that I could track this person down, they might still have this footage in their possession.

Any help or insight would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks for your time.  Take care and all the best.

P.S. Additionally, Eric also had a super rare recording of Jeff and Everything But The Girl playing I Know It’s Over by The Smiths at Glastonbury ‘95.  More details below.

Would you happen to have this recording?  I know that it circulated back in the ‘90s, and maybe early ‘00s, but I’ve never come across it.
