I just finished another re-listen of {Bride} and I love it. I love the banter between characters and the FMC humor/sarcasm. I think she's hilarious and would actually love recs of other books with similar humor and spice levels. I also loved the humor in {Swordheart} and {Paladin's Grace} but the spice wasn't quite enough.
Starting {Mate} soon so please no spoilers for that book!
The only thing that irks me is the third act break up from Lowe. It honestly seemed so out of character that he would use her past trauma to lie to her and push her away. Earlier in the book he told Misery that he would give anything to his mate and take anything his mate would be willing to give him just to make her happy even if only for a single night and it would be a privilege. But when she confessed her feelings for him he was like - no you are just lonely and like the idea of love and looked too much into my obvious smittenness you stupid girl go away. It just felt wrong. It broke my heart and I'm not even her.
I do like that she kind of let him have it at the end and he did apologize but I do wish a bit more groveling had been involved on his end. Can anyone help me understand his line of thinking or maybe a different way to look at it?
