Never ever use Albert.

Just wanted to warn people about a pretty deceptive experience I had with a cash advance app today.

I went in thinking I was applying for a simple cash advance. Right away, they pushed a $19.99/month payment plan subscription before even clearly showing loan terms.

Then they required full bank access through Plaid so they could review account activity.

What really crossed the line for me was this:

they were basically forcing me to switch my direct deposit/payroll to them in order to continue the process. The app wouldn’t let me move forward without going through that step. There was no clear “skip” option or alternative path.

At that point, I immediately closed the app and backed out.

Just be careful with these “instant cash advance” apps. Some of them are not really about helping you get a short-term advance — they seem more focused on locking you into subscriptions, accessing your banking data, and redirecting your paycheck.

Read EVERYTHING carefully before linking your bank account or changing payroll information. If an app tries to pressure you into changing your direct deposit just to continue the application, that’s a huge red flag to me.

Avoid it if possible. There are better and more transparent options out there.

You have been warned.

DO NOT USE ALBERT
