Lil’d tv Homeless Episode

A year and a half ago we kicked off the show with a look into the homeless situation in town. We’ve been filming stuff for a deeper dive ever since. This is Part 1, a look into what it’s like being unhoused and some of the people who are the frontlines trying to help.

Part 2 will be bigger picture.

Thanks for watching and supporting the show yall. I’m happy to answer any questions yall may have -
From my limited knowledge on the issue.

Why Would Anyone Work Here

Now that you’re either hired to be a cook or a server, the only perk would be free movies. But when you think about the horrid hours/holidays of working a theater, does that outweigh the perks?

What’s the difference between working at Alamo and being a runner at a restaurant? I assume the pay is slightly better but even still.

They don’t check tickets anymore so the only time I get to see the love for cinema in an employee’s eyes is when they drop off food.

Why would anyone work here?

For clarification because it seems I didn’t explain my intention clearly: I am in no way blaming people for taking a job. My question was more about why would someone work at Alamo Drafthouse specifically, as opposed to another service industry job that has better hours, etc.

Of course I’m not lambasting people for having a job. Who would do that?

Pre-movie speech

In Denton, it seems the complaints of the killing of the “personal experience” is being listened to- sorta. In the last couple of weeks, after the pre show, they make the managers come in and welcome the audience to the show through a 15 second little speech.

It’s really awkward. I know they don’t want to do it. It feels like a corporate solution to a problem they created.

Any other cities trying this method of enhancing the “experience”?

The Most Reckless Driving in Movies

I’ve always been annoyed by people wildly spinning the steering wheel around when driving down a straight road or worse - making a simple left turn. It always makes me wonder if they’ve ever driven a car before.

What’s the most dangerous example of movie driving you’ve ever seen? And even better- what’s the longest you’ve seen a character not look at the road while driving?

Denton Made Short Film

Hey gang! I made a proof of concept film staring all Denton people. Shot entirely in Denton (mostly in the distillery of Anderson’s). With a sneaky cameo from Papa Anderson himself as a priest who gets his tongue cut out.

It’s a slow burn horror. Don’t expect lots of gore. And it’s just one small scene out of a feature I’ve written.

Anyway, I don’t have the money to do the festival circuit. I’m entering them as I can but maybe y’all could help boost the numbers by giving some love on the ol YouTube? Thanks y’all!!

Joy as Resistance

Sometimes I wish I didn’t have deadlines because stories keep happening that fit the theme. But enough about politics.

This month’s episode is about staying joyful despite the struggles. I got to speak with The Art Room, some street preachers, I covered the Bearded Monk coming out of the closet, an art cult, and met a bunch of baby animals.

All that and more in this meditative episode! Enjoy yall.

We’ll be returning to having public screenings soon. Looking at doing them block party style so we can get more people and more focus.

Thanks for supporting the show, everyone! What other stories or episodes would you like to have me cover?

Trying to Remember a VOY Episode

ChatGPT tells me I made it up. Please help me stay sane.

I’m pretty sure there’s a Voyager episode where the crew go to an abandoned research facility and find the scientists have been either killed and/or fused with the walls.

The way it was presented gave me nightmares when I was a kid.

Any chance yall know what episode I’m talking about?

Thanks so much!

Edit: thank you! Mystery solved. It’s VOY 1x10 State of Flux!

New episode of Lil’d TV!

This one is special. I kept seeing the same faces at all of the political and civic events (including mine) and wondering “where is everyone else?”

Local engagement is always bad. This has been true for decades. Knowing this, why does the political class keep blaming everyone else? Surely it’s something the “somebodies” are doing wrong. Right? That’s what I set out to find.

We also cover the emotional fallout from the chaos at the Robson Ranch Conservative Club forum and if you can believe it, it gets real.

Thanks to everyone who helped me put this one together. It was also supposed to include a short film that was made in Denton (featuring Father Anderson) but the episode was already long in the tooth and pretty emotionally heavy so sorry to the filmmakers.

Enjoy yall!

Oh and polls are open today till 7pm if you’re the kind of person who votes. Maybe I’ll see you out there.

Hey gang! I’ve posted about this project a few times. Well I finally have a decent cut of the proof of concept for this found footage feminist film horror I’ve been working on.

The themes are heavily inspired by the early days of post-rock, GYBE found sound, and obviously our backwards trend of falling harder into patriarchy.

The music is a mixture of YouTube’s audio library, some tonal things I made in GarageBand, and a post rock back I filmed a dozen years ago that never released anything and broke up a few months later.

Obviously yall are under no obligation to watch but it’s going to hit the festival circuit soonish once we start entering it. So I wanted to show you guys since yall have given me inspiration from the beginning.
