🚨 TWO LINKED HIGH-VALUE POKÉMON THEFTS $30,000+ CONNECTED TO UPS STATEN ISLAND / TRAVIS AVE ROUTE 🚨
UPS warning to collectors — targeted Pokémon theft linked to Staten Island / Travis Ave ups route. Evidence pointing to UPS Travis avenue sorting facility on the island.
I’m based in the UK and recently received an EMPTY UPS parcel containing 8 graded Pokémon cards worth $30,000+, all in Beckett/BGS slabs, including a 1st Edition Neo Genesis Lugia BGS 9.5. The parcel arrived with the bottom cleanly sliced open, contents removed, and resealed using a single strip of clear tape.
My parcel route:
UPS Store Staten Island → Travis Ave facility → Newark → Philadelphia → UK
UPS later confirmed the parcel’s recorded weight had already dropped to roughly 20% of its original weight while still in the US network.
After posting online, another collector contacted me describing a very similar high-value Pokémon theft. Their parcel route was:
UPS Store Staten Island → Travis Ave facility → final delivery in New Jersey.
The common point in BOTH thefts was the Staten Island UPS Store and the Travis Ave UPS facility. Even more concerning: both parcels were dropped off the SAME day, around the SAME time, and were reportedly taken away by the SAME two drivers.
What disturbed me further: after contacting the UPS Store, I was told CCTV linked to the SECOND parcel showed staff/drivers gathered around watching the Pokémon shipment being packed, joking around, and even grabbing/moving the box using a “garbage picker” stick.
I obviously cannot accuse anyone directly, but two linked high-value Pokémon thefts on the same route is deeply concerning.
My ask
Please keep an eye out for vintage BGS Pokémon slabs appearing privately, at shows, on Whatnot, Facebook, Instagram or eBay — especially a 1st Edition Neo Genesis Lugia BGS 9.5.
Does anyone know someone who works at ups on Staten Island ?? Sorting office on Travis avenue ir security expert.
