I know I made a mistake. I had some important documents to send via UPS. Arriving at the store, I asked for their suggestions as the documents were thick. The UPS store person suggested me to get a UPS box. Later she generated a label and I put the documents inside the box. I asked her if anything else need to be done. She said NO and returned me the receipt with tracking number. I left the box unsealed thinking they would probably do it.
Now I got to understand that there is no guarantee they would do it because it is not their job, rather it is my responsibility. It happened yesterday before 7 pm right before the shop was closed. Today is Independence day, the shop is closed. The shop will open tomorrow at 12 pm. The current tracking status shows "Labels created".
What should I do? Should I go back to the shop to ensure sealing the package?
EDIT: I went to the UPS store today (the next day). They told me that as I bought the UPS box from the store, it is their responsibility to tape the box. I do not need to worry about this.
Okay, so I purchased a UPS Ground Saver label through eBay to ship an item I sold. I dropped it off with UPS and they shipped it from my city to the destination city. They handed the package over to USPS at the destination city. But USPS is now saying "postage not paid" so they won't deliver the package. I called USPS customer support and they said they won't return the package back to me either. They're basically going to keep it/discard it. I told them I did pay postage when I purchased the label... it must have been paid or UPS wouldn't have accepted the package and shipped it across the country. The package weighed 1 lb. 10 oz. but UPS rounded it up to 2 lbs. so I didn't underpay for the weight. I called UPS and they said they can't do anything because the package is now in USPS hands. Am I screwed?
So, Upsers, I have a bit of a problem that should not be a problem. I’ve worked as a package handler twice before this, during peak.
I was never made aware of the hand-to-surface rule.
I was made aware of this last week and even had my shift end early because of it.
I understand the rules; however, if a package is too heavy and the only way to move it is to scoot it or shove it, what do I do or say?
I also have a question about seniority: how long does it take for someone to earn seniority where they are able to work their scheduled days, such as Monday–Friday?
Thanks, and may we all be successful at what we do 🙂
This is the phone I ordered from Metro. Me and two of my friends ordered the phone. Phones got shipped the same day and they got their phone on 3rd of July. Their package left Hodgkins on July 2nd. However, mine still shows only arrived to this location and it never updated after that. Is it lost, stolen or something? Do I have any chance of getting this?
So this package I ordered through Amazon, of a display case(4 tier high). I ordered it on June 25th, and it kept showing it was getting rescheduled. I called twice, and they said it could possibly be lost. They sent out trucks multiple times(5 included). Is there a chance I will still get my package later?? Just wondering before I ask for a refund, or to go around this. It is also getting delivered from UPS, not through the Amazon truck. Thanks! I plan on giving it another week due to the holidays, weather, and rain.
I know it's a holiday weekend, and its only been a few days, but no scans after a couple days worries me..
So, I ordered normal Next Day Air on Monday.. it travels like it usually does, gets to my destination facility no problem - it goes out for delivery.. I see the UPS truck pull in around 10:40 - and I sit there waiting for them to drop it off.. around 5 minutes go by and they just drive off. I assume they were looking for it, and its a small envelope probably lost in the other hundred huge boxes.. so I figure they'll just come by when/if they find it later. They never do (or they did?) And the last scan is at the end of that day (Tuesday)
I really wish I would have gone out there because I could have told them what it looked like - but I guess if it wasn't on the truck it wouldn't mattered anyways.
I called the next day through the AI chat bot and it was just outsourced customer service that told me what tracking told me... told me it should be delivered that day of course...
I already informed the shipper.. guess I'm just waiting if anything changes on Monday.
Is it stolen? Lost? Is there anything I can do? Anybody else in the same boat? Any hope anybody can give me?
Thank you!
Location: I'm afraid to say where due to retaliation, but let's say East Coast, USA.
I work for United Parcel Service (UPS). You know, the big brown trucks that deliver packages incase you didn't know.
Recently, our building has been greatly understaffed. Most of us are maxing out our DOT hours. We're bringing back packages undelivered due to this.
Usually when we can't deliver packages due to running out DOT hours, we scan the package as "missed". This tells the customer that we weren't able to deliver it today for many different reasons such as running out of time, or it was loaded onto the wrong truck by mistake in a different area etc etc.
When we can't deliver a package due to weather, we scan the package as "EC" or known as emergency condition.
The difference between missed and EC is missed is our fault. EC is in a way out of our control (unsafe to deliver such as a snowy driveway, closed road).
Due to a lot of drivers maxing out their 14 hour daily DOT limit, thousands of packages are coming back undelivered. We're being instructed not to scan it missed and that the company will scan it themselves. I later learned that they are scanning it with some sort of weather scan. It's to my understanding this weather scan makes it so the company isn't at fault.
The reason why I find this possibly fraud is because people who pay extra money for overnight shipping, two day shipping, etc etc would normally get a refund due to us missing the deadline for the expedite shipping. It's to my understanding when the company scans it as weather related, they now don't owe a refund. If it was scanned correctly as missed, they would owe a refund.
Is this a billion dollar fraud? No, but I find this very wrong. One of the few ways to get fired at UPS is being dishonest. They'll fire you immediately for scanning anything dishonestly and knowingly. Yet they are doing it and saving themselves from paying out refunds that are owed to the customer. I have no idea what dollar amount this would add up to, but if you've ever shipped something overnight than you would know it's not cheap and could add up quick when you're talking about thousands of packages over a couple of months.
Thanks for your time and help.
I paid for NDA which was $40. The shipper dropped off the package at an ups store but for whatever reason, the driver did not show up to pickup the package until the next day which was Friday. Obviously ups isn’t running today or tomorrow which means the earliest I’ll receive it would be Monday.
Are they going to deny the claim because they didn’t have possession of the package until Friday? When I called the ups store it was dropped off at they said the driver just never showed up at all that day.
Hello,
I shipped a package through UPS from Canada to the US. I requested a home pick up and the driver came to pick it up at my place. The pick up request was marked as completed. However, the driver did not scan it upon picking it up and now the status is “Shipment Ready for UPS”. The pick up was done on June 30th. It was a 2 days expedited shipping, so it was scheduled to ve delivered on Friday. The tracking have not moved. I have called UPS Canada, UPS International and the UPS investigation team and I have been ping-ponged all along. The parcel was insured through Secursus. I opened a claim with UPS but I am not sure if the pick-up request completed can be enough for insurance. Has anyone had a similar experience before?
Hi everyone,
Just hoping that I’m able to get some advice or help from anyone in here that’s a little more knowledgeable than I am with the mysterious workings of UPS lol.
My friend sent me a package on the 20th of June which was dropped of to the Anderson road store in
Tampa, FL! A couple of hours later there was an “RFID Confirmed Pickup” scan.
After 8 days there was no movement or further scans. My friend contacted them and they opened an investigation. It’s now the 5th of July (2 weeks later) and it still hasn’t been located.
I’ve attached photos of the response I got from the stores also!
Does anyone know if there’s anything else I should/can be doing to help find it? This package is incredibly important and I’m desperate to locate it!
I’m trying to ship a small rigid shikishi board overseas (Japan) alongside a small letter thats 4in by 6in. the shikishi board is 5in by 7in so its pretty small. I have literally no experience shipping things overseas so any advice regarding stamps, shipping labels, & shipping methods is much appreciated!
It’s been a day since this happened, ups says it will be here in 3 days. Just frustrating since I paid for same day shipping :| will it even arrive?
I have a package (presumably) shipping. I dont have the tracking ID and its not connected to my email. Can is all packages that are en route to my house address?
This the second time that a UPS driver has failed to deliver an extremely time sensitive, overnighted package containing work materials I’ve needed to complete a job with a strict deadline. These packages do not require signature. I cannot even fathom the level of stupidity it takes to see this sign on a door and not deliver the package. Don’t bother using this garbage service.
I could really use some advice because I’m getting nowhere with UPS.
On Tuesday, UPS picked up 100 packages from a business location. The driver physically loaded all 100 boxes onto the truck, so I know they left the building.
The problem is that every single tracking number still only says “Label Created.” None of the packages have been scanned as picked up or entered the UPS network.
I paid for expedited 2-day shipping (over $2,000 in shipping costs) because these packages were supposed to arrive on Thursday. It’s now Friday, and there’s still zero movement.
These shipments are for a show production that’s filming in the next few days, so timing is critical.
So far I’ve:
Opened a claim.
Escalated the case.
Asked to speak with a manager.
Called customer service multiple times
They then closed the claim so I have to start over
Every person keeps telling me that investigations take 8 business days, which isn’t helpful given the time-sensitive nature of these shipments.
My questions are:
Has anyone successfully gotten UPS to escalate something like this faster?
Is there any way to get someone to contact the pickup driver or the local hub to see if the truck can be checked?
Is there a department beyond regular customer service that can actually help?
Will they refund the shipping?
I’m honestly struggling to understand how 100 packages can disappear without a single acceptance scan. It feels like this should be traceable if someone would just contact the driver or the facility that serviced the pickup.
Any advice from anyone who’s dealt with something similar would be greatly appreciated. I’m trying to figure out the fastest path to getting these located before the production is impacted.
I have a package that was originally scheduled to arrive at my house Monday by 9pm. I want to get the package as early as possible Monday so I decided to request it to be sent to a UPS access point this morning. Today is July 4th which why I’m assuming the request hasn’t process yet. My question is will this request further delay my package if it just arrived at the main hub last night at 11:59? Should I cancel the request and have it go its original route or will there most likely be no delay and it arrive at the access point earlier than 9pm? Pls help!
There have been too many rate increases and new fees in the past 12 months. You are hurting small businesses and consumers across the country. You force people into paying by bank draft which is easy and low cost (my bank .27). I fail to see any reason then that you began imposing a 10% payment processing fee. 10%!! That is a stiff charge. Small business cannot survive giving a 10% increase to consumers without warning, the same as UPS has done to us. Remove this fee from all accounts.
UPS delivered my item to a dock or to a warehouse. I wanted to file a case investigation but it is restricted and only sender can file it. I have been telling this to Nike Customer Support however, it is already marked delivered on their end and doesn’t want to help me. May I know if someone has the same experience? What should I do next?
UPS shipped a package for me that was 4.06 lbs and going across the US (OR to NC). The lady quoted me 260 dollars for shipping. I asked if there was any other option. She told me I could do Tuesday or Wednesday delivery and quoted me 100+ dollars. I said, “what is the absolute cheapest shipping you could do for this? It’s not a rush so I don’t need guaranteed date delivery.” I was told the cheapest was “priority mail” for $68.77. I paid it and went home feeling weird about it. Looked online and saw that ground shipping was 29 dollars. Is there anything I could do?
Edit: package size was 14x10x6
Edit 2: as a couple people have pointed out, yes I’m apparently an idiot but at least I know about Pirateship going forward! Thanks, all.
