Adult Signature Required, stop it already
Preface:
For the last 5 or 6 years I've been getting more or less the same delivery every couple months, suffice to say that it's tobacco products and requires an "Adult Signature".
I have subscribed to UPS delivery notifications and have the proper profile set up in UPSMYCHOICE. While I have opted out of the required signature option in my profile, it does not apply to "Adult Signature".
Now to the Rant. Yesterday I get email notification saying Delivery expected between 2 and 6pm. Great, it means I need to leave work a bit early but no big deal. UPS has been quite consistent in my neighborhood over the years. They typically run through my block sometime after 2. I get home shortly before 2 and I got the "sorry we missed you" tag on my door, will attempt again tomorrow. OK, whatever.
Again this morning I get an email saying that delivery between 2 and 6 again. I get home at 1:05 and sure enough there's another tag on my door, "sorry we missed you"...Fuckers! This is insane just to get some Cigars. For years I had the same UPS guy and we were friendly, he'd bring treats for my dogs, he was a good guy kinda like the Postman. He was aware of the "Adult Signature" thing but he knew me so if I wasn't there to sign then he'd just leave it like every other package. But, he got promoted to a more cushy route recently and things are obviously not the same. Regardless, if UPS shows up significantly before the time they tell me to be home to sign for the package, they need to try and redeliver same day. I know that will never happen though.
Big fan of technology but I also understand that it is ruining parts of society and aspiring to "the pride in a job well done" is almost non-existent these days.
