Do UPS drivers like Hot Hands in the winter?

Hey all,

Usually in the summer I give my drivers Powerade and water when they come to my house. Was thinking of what to get them for the bitterly cold winter time. Hot Hands maybe? Or do drivers already have heated gloves?

I love (hate) how Hollywood is in such a chokehold right now

I really hope TV and film recovers but Hollywood is in such a dark tunnel right now. I really hope there is light at the end of the tunnel. Here are the reasons that are pissing me off.

  1. Social media is taking over the entertainment industry and really did kill peoples attention spans. Now "influencers" stole TV and film and get to make a living for posting a couple 10 second videos per day. Makes me pissed. I wish I could afford a living for only working for a few minutes per day!
  2. The US economy is pushing production away from the LA area. I hear people say all the time, "Why are you so mad about this? Who cares where things are filmed?" You have to factor in things like workers in the film industry. They have to pick a place to live. When the film industry is spread all over it's hard to pick a place to live. When everything is filmed in a different place it creates constant expensive travel. Plus when most people of the film industry were in the same area, it was so easy to connect and collaborate with others in the industry.
  3. Paramount and Warner bros merger is not good at all. Layoffs, reduced competition, makes it hard for new people in the industry to find work, endless reasons why this merger is shit.
  4. AI does have a significant threat to the industry as AI can soon literally generate new episodes of a TV show or create a new one with a story line that a person wants. This reason alone may quite be the end of Hollywood so I pray it doesn't come true (although it partially already has).
  5. Death of cable TV is significantly reducing profits in the industry so workers are getting paid less and less. I wish streaming platforms could make more money..

High risk address question

Hey all,

Customer at a house came out and talked to me today and said that they have been having package theft and asked if there is anything we can do. I can understand they are getting theft as they are on a busy ass road with nothing hiding their porch. I asked the OMS and CM if we can flag the address as level 4 risk/no dr. Both said they can't. Told me to tell them to contact loss and prevention. I mean I have heard of loss and prevention being able to flag addresses but idk if that was just a rumor.

Can loss and prevention flag addresses or should I just not even tell the customer to contact them if they can't?

Ghostly experiences in my home but happen once in a while, what could it be?

Hello everyone,

This is my first post in this reddit and I've always been interested in ghosts, but also terrified of them lol. My house was built in 1997 and my parents bought the house in 2005 and have owned it ever since. So this house isnt that old. Me and my mom have experienced things happen in our house but only happens once in a great while, but the things that happen are unexplainable.

I've mainly heard noises and had stuff go missing and then appearing again in the same spot I had checked. One night I heard a baby crying in the house (no baby in the house at the time). I remember just blowing it off saying I could be hallucinating.

My mom has had stuff happen when she is sleeping alone in her bedroom. She had stuff happen like the bed going down as if someone just sat on the bed, toilet flushing on its own, the feeling of a hand grabbing her, etc.

My mom said when I was little stuff would happen like my baby toys turning on by it's self as if they were being played with.

I know this post may seem like nothing, it probably is nothing. But if it was what would you guys think? Maybe a family member coming back? Probably nothing evil?

Who misses the Touch Bar? Will it ever come back?

I just bought my laptop for college. Got a M5 MacBook Pro with nano texture and it's coming today. I'm so excited! However, I would be more excited if it had the Touch Bar. That is something I always thought was so cool on the MacBook. The Touch Bar sold me on getting a MacBook and I was in shock when I noticed Apple got rid of it. I still went with a MacBook anyway, I'm just bummed out.

Anyone who had the lucky experience with the Touch Bar, how did you like it? Does anyone think it will ever return?

Route with stops at UPS Store

Hello all,

Our center is rebidding and I have a couple routes I was thinking of bidding on.

In my city there is a pretty nice route. It's pretty much mainly business until around 5 or 6 and then some residential. The route is not that far from the hub and is in a pretty nice area. I heard these business routes are pretty good for many reasons.

The only thing with this route is that it has a UPS store on it. The driver can make 1 to 3 stops at this UPS store per day. I've never had a stop at the UPS store before, but I've heard a lot of complaints about it in this sub lol. What is so bad about these stops? Should I still consider bidding on this nice route even though I could be making up to 3 stops at the UPS store?

DIAD 7 Rumors and thoughts

I've been hearing rumors and I have thoughts about what the DIAD 7 may look like.

First, as we know the DIAD 6 actual device is manufactured by Honeywell and has the android software. The rumor is the DIAD 7 will be one of those Zebra handhelds which I've seen FedEx drivers use. I will put a picture below of what they look like so you don't have to search them up.

Second, I am thinking the DIAD 7 will still have the android software, as with technology nowadays is either really android or apple. With that being said, the DIAD 7 will still probably use the MDA delivery app with maybe a few updates.

The DIAD 7 I believe will simply just be a different device getting used. Unless they scratch the MDA delivery app and build a whole new app to use on the android software.

I have no idea though then the DIAD 7 is supposed to release, does anyone know?

Driver helper in peak season

Hey all,

So being a UPS driver has always been a possible career option for me. I was thinking about being a driver helper during peak season as I just turned 18 this year. That would be almost a hands on job shadow type experience for me. I would hope I could do as much as I can to help the driver. I would even hope to do things like, completing pickups, using the DIAD, doing sig required stops, etc.

I would really hope to learn how to use the DIAD and maybe get my own so I can actually do more than just walk packages up to the door or into the business. Then I could get more of a feel of how being a UPS driver would actually be.

Could someone also tell me a little more of how being a driver helper is? When can I start to look for the openings? Will they be posted on the UPS website?

The only red flag here is that I will be a freshman in college this year. My winter break does not start until the 2nd or 3rd week of December, but then I am fully available until the end of January.

Let me know what you guys think!

How is being a driver helper during peak?

Hello all,

I am 18 and starting college next year and we get a long winter break so I was thinking I could maybe be a seasonal driver helper during Christmas time. I just had a few questions about it though before I would apply in the fall.

  1. How is the hiring process work? Do I have to go for an interview at the center with the center manager? or is it online? is training/orientation online?

  2. In the morning do I drive out to the center and meet my driver? Or do I get picked up at a meet up spot? or at my house if my house is in the drivers route?

  3. How do I get paired up with a driver? Do I get to pick? Do I get the same driver the whole season or do we switch up everyday? (Just wondering as I've gotten to know my own UPS driver a little bit that comes to my house, but still I guess don't mind with being paired up with someone random).

  4. Are they flexible with availability? My winter break starts just a week or two after Thanksgiving. Idk if that is a problem. But after that I'm available all day everyday for the rest of December and ALL January.

  5. How long are driver helpers kept on for? End of January? Right after Christmas ends?

  6. Do I get to stay with the driver the whole day? I would love more hours so I would hope the driver keeps me for the whole route.

I know that's a lot of questions so I really appreciate every response given! Thank you!!

I don't like the taste of alcohol, will Baileys be a good option?

Hey everyone.

I don't love the taste of alcohol but love having a few drinks at the end of a long work week to relive from stress and put my mind in a good mood. I have been mostly drinking stuff like canned drinks like Carbless, Surfsides, etc. as they don't taste like alcohol that much. However, I am starting to get into more mixing drinks as I'm starting to get a little sick of the canned ones, and want to have fun making and mixing my own!

I absolutely love sweets and desserts and I heard Baileys might be a good option for me (just if it doesn't taste like alcohol that much). I was looking at some of their flavors and they look pretty tasty. I'll probably try the original Bailey's first and then if I like that I'll try their cinnamon churro, vanilla mint shake, cookies and cream, etc.

Also, what are good options to mix baileys with?

Opinions?

Is there anyway Amazon can block a carrier from delivering my orders?

Hey everyone,

So I like in a neighborhood that is now gated access. I don't live in a rich gated neighborhood, but we just recently had security stuff implemented due to a ton of crime here so they decided to put gates up and only let certain people in.

For some reason they will not let Amazon drivers in my neighborhood (a lot of Amazon drivers deliver out of their own car here so maybe that's why?). So any order I get that ships with Amazon Logistics (which is 99% of them) gets marked undeliverable as they get denied access at the gate. The gate security however lets carriers like UPS, USPS, and FedEx in the neighborhood and I get those packages.

Is it worth trying to contact customer service about this or would it be a waste of time? Maybe they can block Amazon from delivering my orders because literally any order that ships from them I cannot receive.

What is the point of a no DR/High risk location if it is overridable?

I get why UPS loss and prevention created the no DR list/Level 4 high risk for locations that experience theft or where it is unsafe to DR packages. What I don't get is that the override option is available for these stops. Doesn't that defeat the whole purpose of this security measure that UPS created? These addresses get flagged as a reason but then drivers can just leave packages when marked unsafe to.

I personally get signatures on these stops but other people in my center override which ends up getting them pinched in the future. The override just creates confusion on what to actually do. But I cannot think of an actual reason why the override option is available for these addresses.

Does anyone know or is this just one of UPS's schemes to catch drivers?

Monday dispatch changes

Hey all,

For those of you that have your own Monday-Friday route or bid route, how are Mondays like for you guys?

Recently my route on Mondays has been pretty messed up recently. My residential is completely different and I also have changes in the businesses I go to. I basically lose half my route and I deliver in the neighboring routes in the loop my route is in. So I wonder who is delivering to half my businesses and residential I am missing.

But then Tuesday-Friday goes back to my normal route and how it is supposed to be. I understand why this probably happens though as only half the drivers are here on Mondays and only half the amount of routes are running. But everyone is here Tuesday-Friday.

Also, I've also been noticing residential volume on Monday is pretty low which I assume is because everything residential gets pushed out on Saturday. Personally, I also never get packages from UPS on Mondays. When I order something on a Thursday, and it ships out the same day and is two ground days away, it comes on Saturday. But if it ships out on Friday it comes on Tuesday.

But yeah does anyone else experience these big Monday dispatch changes? I honestly don't mind it though as it's nice to have change here and there so I don't get sick of my route.

What are some liquors I should get for my mini bar that every bar needs

Hey all,

Im getting just a little mini bar at home and want to start making fun drinks! Personally I don't love the taste of alcohol, so I opt for drinks that don't have an overpowering taste of it. However, this bar will be utilized by family and friends.

So far I bought regular vodka and some flavored vodkas, Malibu, melon liqueur, and Baileys. Those I bought just for drinks that I tried at a bar that I like that don't taste too much like alcohol.

What are some other recommendations of some liquors that are a necessity to have at bar?

Any alcohol/liquor websites that ship to WI that have free or cheap shipping?

I tried out CWSpirits and they have unlimited free shipping and they ship to WI which is nice. However, they obviously don't have every single liquor so I want a backup website that I can purchase from if CWSpirits either doesn't carry what I am looking for or is out of stock of something I need.

Any good ones anyone may know of??

Any good drink suggestions for someone that doesn't like the taste of alcohol?

I'm freshly 21 and have been experimenting with new drinks. I don't really like the taste of alcohol but I really like the feeling of getting a little buzz and letting my anxiety vanish.

I heard of a good drink suggestion (which I still have to try) that is 1 oz cherry vodka, 1 oz orange vodka, pineapple and orange juice, and grenadine syrup. Apparently this makes a Hawaiian Punch and does not taste like alcohol at all but is still strong enough in alcohol.

Any other drink suggestions like this?? Even for shots too?

Can anyone 21+ sign for an adult signature?

I'm 19 and bought some alcohol online for me and my family. The package is getting sent adult signature required (21+) and I am wondering if my parents can just sign for it or does the ID presented have to match the name on the label?

Has anyone seen any Sephora packages be photo required?

I was delivering a package to a high risk address today. As you all know we need to get signatures for those packages. But it also said photo required for this stop. So it left me a bit confused. I ended up overriding the signature on the high risk to get the picture.

A few other normal DR Sephora packages also required a picture. Does anyone know why this is and if you've seen it on other regular packages non-sephora??

Who is not a fan of the new tracking page?

I ship and receive a ton of packages with UPS and I lowkey do not like the new tracking design. They got rid of a ton of info they used to provide. For example, ground saver packages do not have the USPS tracking number listed so when UPS gives those packages to USPS they are no longer trackable. Then with signature packages, it no longer specifies which signature is required (i.e. adult signature, direct, or indirect signature). It just says a signature is needed.

I have a package with alcohol coming and I would assume it's an adult signature required but who knows as the new tracking does not give that information anymore.
