Why are "all" bronzers orange?

So obviously not all, but I am a regular makeup consumer and no specialist, and I don't spend days upon days researching before buying a new makeup product. I love to visit stores and look at makeup physically, and I have noticed that most bronzers are sooo frekkin orange!

You may be fooled by the look of an unswatched product until the initial layer of the powder is gone and the true colour hides underneath..

So I will give an example, but I guess everyone is aware that this "trend" with orange bronzer has been going on for years already.

My last purchase was exactly like this. I saw the Revolution 3-palette kit with bronzer, highlighter and shimmer blush in model 'Ultra Fair'. The bronzer looked cool toned, and the price was super cheap so I figured I would grab it as a 3-kit would be nice during travels...

Opened the kit at home, the bronzer looked less cool toned without the lid, but it wasn't until I swirled my brush into it and dabbed on my very fair skin, that I saw I looked like the Orange President...

And then I saw the highlighter is pink, and the shimmer blush is like rosy orange... An extremely weird colour combination.

This is so annoying and frustrating.

Any tips for a bronzer that doesn't cost an arm or a leg, that isn't completely orange? I have neutral, fair skin.

Don't live in the US so some brands may be off limits.

Hair help

This is what the ends of my hair look like. I straighten a few times a week and use heat protectant. It’s not dyed/bleached at all. How can I get it smooth + healthy and to grow longer? I have heard K18 is good.

Thanks in advance 🩷

What should i do with my eyebrows?

i’ve been struggling with shaping my eyebrows for so long now and i’m just so exhausted from it. i’ve tried all different shapes from thin, straight, arched, etc. i shaved the tails off a while ago and have decided i think i want to grow them out as much as possible. i haven’t grown out my real natural eyebrows in a long time. this is probably the closest to how they naturally were before i went overboard plucking and shaving them for years. it has honestly been my insecurity for a long time, i’m always scared i have eyebrow blindness and am pretty sure i do lmao does anyone have any advice?

Lash extensions

I have very short lashes and not the most full either. I went and got lashes today and spent $165. I asked her for natural looking lashes and said I didn’t want them heavy and unnatural looking. These are what I got. Am I overreacting or are they really bad? This is the first time I’ve done them, I try to save money and do everything DIY as a mom of two but I hate how clusters feel but love the look. I’m so sad second photo is what I was hoping for. I feel like mine look clumped and spidery 😞

My K-corporate job is making me look like an Instagram scammer and I'm so burnt out

Hey everyone, I just really need to vent because I feel like I’m going crazy at my job and I wonder if anyone else has experienced this kind of culture clash.

I work at a K-beauty marketing agency here in Seoul. Honestly, my actual job sounds fun on paper: I'm supposed to find foreign creators living in Korea and give them free skincare or clinic treatments. That's it.

But the Korean corporate way of doing this is driving me insane. My boss literally wants me to just mass-send cold DMs to hundreds of expats on Instagram every single day. I keep telling my team, "Guys, this looks exactly like a scam! If I got this DM, I'd ignore it or block the account!" And of course, the response rate is terrible because our messages just go straight to the hidden/spam requests folder anyway.

I genuinely want to build real connections with expat creators, but the company culture here is just "numbers, numbers, send more DMs." It feels so creepy and disconnected from how social media culture actually works. I feel so bad for the creators receiving our copy-pasted corporate DMs.

Has anyone else working in Korean companies dealt with this kind of frustrating, old-school marketing mindset? Or if you make content here, how do you even tell the difference between a real opportunity and a spam bot?

Just feeling really defeated today trying to bridge this cultural gap. Thanks for reading my rant.

Matching hair to eyebrows

Hi everyone! I’m thinking of doing a small change in my appearance for the summer. Currently my skin is very pale, I have light blue eyes, natural very black brows and my hair is a medium brown. There is a lot of old hairdye (both box and professional) in it, which is the reason I’m not able to bleach it any lighter. The medium brown color it has now is very similar to my natural color.
I’m debating between coloring my hair darker (like a 3), or lightening my brows and keeping the medium brown, since I don’t really like the current look. I’d like my brows to match my haircolor.
During summer my skin will tan a bit, but It’ll still be very light. I’m afraid having darker hair will make me look even more pale and ghostly, but lightening my eyebrows on the other hand will be very hard to mantain since they grow back so quick. What is your opinion?

What are the best brow pencil for sparse, thin brows?

I have thin, sparse brows and want to upgrade my routine. I need something that mimics real hair... especially toward the inner brow where patches are most obvious.

Must come in deep shades and hold up on oily skin.

What are your holy grails?

Hair Help!!!

Hi guys!

I could really use some hair advice. This is how my hair looks natural (with leave-in conditioner and anti frizz cream) but I absolutely hate how it looks like this. It looks so *blah* to me. I love how it looks when I straighten it, but it takes more time and I'm in a different country right now where I can't use my straightener.

Can anyone recommend some hair styles or products I can use to make it look more neat? I don't know much about hair so I'd appreciate the advice!! Thx :)

(The last slide is me with straight hair)

unhappy with bridal makeup preview: what to ask for going forward?

Hi, So I did a hair and makeup trial yesterday for my bridal look for my wedding in July. I'm attaching two photos - the first is the first makeup I received (I couldn't see myself while she worked), and the second is how it changed after I asked for some revisions. I'm still not very happy with the look, but I also don't wear makeup a lot, so I think that's part of the shock for me.

My sense is that maybe the artist doesn't know how to work with older clients (I'm 42), but I don't know how to help her help me. Does anyone have advice on what I can ask for that will help us improve this? Going in, I asked for a foundation-free look that is natural and glowy. I don't wear a lot of makeup, so my goal was just some color correcting and enhancing. I thought this would be fun, but it was actually a pretty bad experience.

Thanks for any constructive feedback!

how do ya look put together & perfect all the time

curious for both genders. like I see people outside who just have their outfit well put together (everything goes together from top, bottom, sneakers, jewlery. things could be fitted or baggy and it still looks great. hair is always well maintain and healthy even if its windy or they had on a hat and takes it off. In addition their skin is always glistening.

How?

I know using the two third rule for outfits but in terms of everything else like moisturizing legs, and keeping skin glowing? Like I know women put fake spray tan that can lift their looks but what about guys in shorts and who don't have a lot to accessorized

is it just trial and error? is it purchasing a few key pieces and seeing what works? try many different haircuts?

How do you drive with your hair up?

I’m 38 years old and still can’t figure this out. How do other women drive with their hair up?! Other than a super low ponytail at the nape of my neck I can’t drive with my hair up because I can’t rest my head on the head rest, and it’s incredibly uncomfortable to sit with my head tilted forward. What are the rest of you doing? I’m into slick backs right now but can only do it if I’m driving somewhere within like 5 minutes of my house. It’s hot out today and I have to tie my hair up in a bun, take it out when I get in the car, then tie it up again when I arrive at my destination. How are the rest of you doing it?!

EDIT:

1: Y’all STOP REMOVING YOUR HEAD RESTS. Technically they’re called head restraints. They’re there so in an accident you don’t get a severe neck injury or whiplash. Severe neck injuries can = paralysis. Just don’t.

2: Flat claw clips unfortunately don’t work in my hair.

Under eye bags

Hello I’m 30f

I don’t wear make up other than mascara. I use Olay complete face lotion. And I lightly wash my face with a vanicream facial cleanser.

My bags have always been something I’ve struggled with. I have two kids under 5. So more rest etc isn’t an option. Wondering if anyone has any tricks or tips. I’m not opposed to something that has coverage in It but I prefer not to wear makeup. I’ve dried a homemade caffeine mask. Along with under eye caffeine creams.

Thank you in advance

Help! Struggled with excessive sweat my whole life and I’ve yet to find a solution.

Hey all! So like the title says, I’m a sweaty pig :( this has been an issue since childhood and having to clean my shirt pit stains drove my mom crazy. I used secret clinical strength for probably a decade. It worked pretty well, but I always had immediate pit sweat no matter the temperature. I’ve tried carpe deodorant. That makes it even worse. Love the scent, but I’m dripping sweat within minutes. I then bought lume deodorant plus sweat control, slightly better than carpe, but still super sweaty. I’m at a loss over here. Is this what my life is going to be? I’m considering switching back to secret clinical since I know that at least somewhat worked, but does anyone have better recommendations? I’m close to the point of going to the doctor and seeing what they can do for me because this is awful. TIA!
