MRCOOL HYPERHEAT

I’m based in New York State, where NYSERDA is offering up to $8,000 to replace an oil furnace with a fully electrified system—something I’m trying to take advantage of. However, the HVAC quotes I’m receiving are around $20,000. One system quoted to me is a Rheem 3.5-ton unit, though no model number has been provided yet since they’re scheduled to perform a Manual J load calculation this weekend.

A technician I spoke with advised against MRCOOL systems, saying they’re lower quality and that it can be difficult to find professionals willing to service them. I’m looking for input from the Professionals/DIY community, does that assessment hold true in practice?

I don’t have $20,000 available upfront, and taking on an additional ~$200/month payment isn’t appealing, as I’m actively trying to keep my debt-to-income ratio under control.
