Approved but Wrong Onset Date

Hey everyone,

I think my SSDI claim may have been approved, but I’m concerned SSA may have set my disability onset date (EOD) to January 2026.

The problem is that I was medically retired from the military in 2022, have been 100% P&T through the VA for years, and my disabilities didn’t suddenly start in January 2026.

If SSA really used January 2026, it would significantly reduce my backpay.

Has anyone successfully appealed an SSDI onset date? Was it difficult, and did SSA pay the additional backpay if the date was changed?

Just looking for others’ experiences. Thanks.
