Long time lurker, first time poster on this sub. I just wanted to get on here to thank my fellow noburp-ers.

For, ever really I have never been able to burp. I could clear a room with my gas on any day that ends in "y" but if I burped at all they were so infrequent I could probably count them on one hand per year.

I had just about every test in the book done since I was little, my least favorite was the barium swallow I did twice. Nothing conclusive ever came of them, I was constantly gas-lit by people around me including doctors and was convinced that was simply what life would be.

It wasn't until I was talking about it with a coworker a few years ago that I was keyed in on this sub, my coworker has the same symptoms. This began my pursuit for understanding, oddly enough at the time I had been referred to an ENT for something completely different, dysphagia, and I figured I would ask the ENT if he had heard of RCP-D at all, expecting to be gaslit some more.

The complete opposite happened and he was incredibly validating. We did my second barium swallow (the worst one) to rule out anything serious and today I just got out of recovery. My throat hurts like crazy, but I was given 50 units of botox. Looking forward to seeing just how many of my previous struggles were related to this!

He also said in about 4 months if the 50 units doesnt stick, we can go in and try again. Thank you all for the validation, if I ever meet someone with the same symptoms, this sub will be the first place I refer them to!

Tl;dr - I've had RCP-D my whole life, and this sub validated a lifelong belief that I wasn't just a weirdo who couldnt burp. Today was my first (and hopefully last) botox treatment for it.
