Bought an eBay phone listed as “Dish Boost” and now it can’t be activated at all and seller is charging 15% restocking fee
I bought a iPhone 15 Pro (IOS 26.5) on eBay that was listed as “Dish Boost, not comptatible with Boost Mobile” I did some research and concluded that it is compatatible with Boost and went ahead and bought it.
After receiving it, I tried activating it with Boost Mobile and customer service told me the phone actually is compatible with Boost, but it cannot currently be activated because the previous owner’s Boost account was apparently still under contract or otherwise tied to the device.
So basically the phone itself is compatible, but it’s blocked from activation because of the previous account status.
I contacted the seller and he said the last buyer had the same issue. He mentioned compatibility in the listing(which was wrong), and nowhere did it clearly say the phone could not actually be activated on Boost due to a previous account issue.
Now I’m returning it and the seller wants to charge me a 15% restocking fee, even though the phone can’t actually be used on the network it was being sold for.
I did get my warnings but it doesn't seem like a phone that should be sold.
Is this my fault? What Exactly can I do?
