Fellow dads — genuinely curious if anyone else has been through this.
For years, my ex and I handled all shared expenses — medical bills, prescriptions, school stuff — through a group chat. Mixed in with birthday videos, school announcements, random life updates.
The result: receipts buried under memes. Payment confirmations lost in the thread. My ex asking "what is all this for?" every time I'd send a batch of receipts I'd been holding onto for weeks.
We'd have to restart the entire explanation from scratch every single time. For expenses that should take 60 seconds to settle.
We worked really hard to get to a good place as co-parents. That chaos was constantly threatening to undo it.
As the dad, I was always the one keeping receipts and tracking everything. Felt like I was doing the work but had nothing to show for it.
What did you use instead? Spreadsheet? An app? Still suffering through the group chat? Genuinely want to know what's actually working for people.
