Government Exam or Content Creation
22M, Heavy Procrastinator and Overthinker. In a situation and dunno what to choose. Final year of college starts in July. On one hand my family prefers i start prep for gov exams like SSC CGL and I personally have no issue with it but i have the fear of ending up in this exam cycle until im 27. On the other hand i have a passion for content creation and know about the field in depth but havent posted ever due to fear n procrastination.
I want to pursue content creation as it provides the kind of revenue i want in life and allows me the freedom to explore to some extent while on the other hand i feel a government job would limit me, in free speech if i ever want to criticise them in future.
Third option is to get the gov job for few years then leave for content creation but idk how fruitful would that be considering how indian parents are about image in society. I dont know what to choose or which gamble would even pay off. Or if i can go all in on both and see which works then choose on the day of my graduation.
I dont know what to do or where to start or how to get the fear out of my head. Cause i have nightmares about my parents screaming at me and crying for not clearing the CGL Gov exam, even tho i havent even promised them yet that im ready to write the exam. How should i choose or move forward.
I dont have any financial responsibility towards my parents or any issue in the house except their expectations and behaviour towards me but even then im not forced into one or the other yet but i know my parents’ preference towards the exam is very rigid. They dont see a future outside of studying even though my nation is full of scams when it comes to government exams. i wont go broke but the burden of expectations is heavy mentally and emotionally.
I know its a very privileged problem to be in but i still need some help. Especially with procrastination part. On one hand theres a job that i wont be satisfied with nor would it fulfill my needs or would i be morally aligned with, but would atleast provide some money to become independent from my parents, but on the other is a gamble that would not only sustain me but also aid me in living the life i want to. I dont know which path to move on.
