I made my first thing

My first real thing, I’m so excited. I probably shouldn’t have wasted good supplies on this but hopefully when I know what I’m actually doing I’ll recreate it better. I think it looks ok at a glance, if you look carefully the thin wire isn’t too well done, but I learnt some so I’ll call it a win. It’s kinda hard getting the thin wire to wrap tightly, I’m hoping that’ll come with practice.

It’s gold filled with Amazonite, the central bead is glass, i didn’t have anything to match the size. I used half hard wire for the ring, I’m assuming this is sensible? I don’t have any full hard wire atm

I really like the gold filled wire but i should probably save it, my copper wire is kinda crappy and my stainless steal wire is awesome but it’s bit too thin (I use it for microcrochet). So I’m waiting on an order of more wire … getting impatient, seeing all the awesome creations here and just wanting to do stuff.

It’s comfortable, very dainty, I’m not excepting it’ll hold up so well, but … I made it.

Unusual stitch heights

US terms. I’m doing some lacework and getting muddled with some of the esoteric crochet stitches, so I made this. I hope it’s accurate because I feel like I started to unlearn fundamentals when jotting this down.

(Half) stitches - pull through the final 3 loops

(Extended) stitches - pull up a loop, then work the stitch as usual. So for an extended DC - YO 1, pull up a loop, pull through 1, pull through 2 loops x2

This video explains the extended stitch better than me

My understanding is the Half stitches add a bit more fabric to the stitch. But they are a tad smaller. Extended stitches elongate the stitch and are a tad bigger.

I’ve only recently seen Htr’s in some Japanese lace and got very confused that it translated to US terms.

Heres a link to a more detailed explanation

I’ve only once seen a doily use the Extended stitches. I’ve never seen Extended Half stitches but ^ here it is. Collectively they make a very gradual shallow slope.

Did I miss anything? These are correct … right…?

Also as far as I can find, there’s no consistent chart symbol for extended or (higher order?) half stitches. I saw one person note the extended stitches with a dot at the bottom of the stitch.
