Pod With Axon Management

Hey all.

u/Investing_Bear and I just dropped the most recent episode of Shooting The Bull pod where we interviewed Axon Enterprise’s President Josh Isner.

It was another awesome conversation about the company’s growth, culture, and Josh answered many questions posted here.

Bear and I think you’ll really enjoy!

Drowsy Investor’s July Portfolio Review

Ok these last two days have given me whiplash! AMZN and MSFT with two of the most important earnings in years both for the companies, the AI trade, and the future of the world (ok maybe a bit much).

As a reminder: My style is a mix of buy and hold for seriously long periods of time (several stocks below I’ve held for 13+ years) and chasing fast growers. I don’t make nearly as many moves as many great folks here. I also am not any good at finding smaller names like the amazing WPR is. My goal is to find long term growers at small/medium market cap size and then hold through thick and thin (which has been 3 times watching NVDA fall 50% or more).

Another quick note. I track my growth portfolio here. I have several other accts: one is fully just VTI; one is more speculative growth stock. So you may see a mention here and there of a stock beyond my core portfolio.

Current holdings:

NVDA 37.2%
CRWD 14.6%
AXON 14.0%
AMZN 9.4%
MELI 6.5%
MSFT 4%
ALAB 3%
GOOG 2.8%
MA 2.5%
FOUR leaps 2.2%
SIMO 1.4%
SE 1%
NBIS 1%
CEPL .14%

July returns +.3%

YTD: +7.6%
S&P: +9.2%

Moves this month:

- Added to ALAB, SIMO, a tiny amount of FOUR, and some NBIS - still trying to build out non-AI trade. My thinking is if I wanted more exposure to the AI trade and to balance out my MAG 7 holdings. SIMO put up video game numbers across several segments. Whenever a segment is up by more than 1,000% yoy that’s a good sign ;). I’m excited for ALAB but valuation is definitely inching back up towards extremely expensive.

- Trimmed NBIS (although as noted above, added back a bit). I can’t quite put my finger on why but my comfortability with this name is still pretty low. Yes we are compute constraint. Yes NVDA is backing this name putting a floor in it. But seems it’s becoming a cult stock (not necessarily a bad thing) and still questions about business model. Somehow high on my list to both add and trim!

- Trimmed GOOG. Was ready to rotate a bit out of GOOG into AMD (super high on my list). But ultimately didn’t and pulled the money from the market for life stuff. Still love GOOG even if the market didn’t appreciate the quarter as much as I thought it should.

- [hold over from last month] Planning on trimming NVDA - won’t belabor the point but I’m planning on trimming my 36% position in NVDA to redistribute to other exiting opportunities.

- Researching Some names like BE, Q, FPS (I’m digging energy stuff) and actually kicking tires on SPCX (even though probably will fall more)

Hope you all had a great month and let’s do this!
