I live in an apartment with a GE Refrigerator/Freezer model GTL18JCPWRBS.

Sometimes it seems like the freezer is not working. There will be no sound coming from the unit, and the small amount of frost on the door and the walls/ceilings will melt and turn into water droplets. It's noticeably less cold when I put my hand in. We normally have enough frozen stuff stocked in the freezer and it starts working quickly enough to where I don't worry about my food. Recently, it went out for a longer period of time to where I started to get concerned so I submitted a maintenance ticket. The freezer had started working again by the time maintenance came around so they saw it making ice and said it's working fine.

I looked up the owner's manual for this model and it says there is a defrost cycle, but it doesn't provide much detail about the defrost cycle. So I'm not sure if what I'm describing is the defrost cycle or if my freezer is dying/reviving like a damn phoenix. Does anyone have any thoughts or ideas about differentiating if my freezer is working appropriately?
