Question about what Yusuke ment about Miyuki in chapter 48?
Obv it was the 90s and japan so my standards as cultural differences as both an overseas fan and also someone reading it for the first time like 30 years after it was written, but Miyuki (the demon girl) says about being a man in body but woman in soul is pretty damn trans coded and makes Togashi seem like he at least knows somewhat he was building for a just a side character (maybe just experimenting with the idea of a trans character since in his later series HxH killua’s sister is pretty trans coded with him calling her his sister and not brother even though the rest of his family does).
However it’s pretty blatant that Yusuke viewed them as a man (or at least not an “actual” girl) as shown in my third screenshot and I still love the series (literally my favorite manga right now) even if this segment doesn’t age well in modern standards of lgbt representation (and also just the dislike of pervy actions in protagonists) and it was both the 90s and yusuke was in middle school so I don’t question that he didnt have modern positive views on trans people.
My main question is what Yusuke ment in his words “YOU'RE NOT A REAL CROSS-DRESSER—
YOU JUST CAN'T MAKE UP YOUR MIND!” And “YOU MIGHT WANNA DO THAT BEFORE YOU GET INTO ANY MORE FIGHTS!!”
Like what does not being a “real” crossdresser even mean in this situation, and that they cant make up their mind? Is he meaning that they are confused and not a real woman just confused and if so why did he say cross dresser not woman? Because saying they are not a real cross dresser kinda implies they aren’t a man and instead a woman pretending to be a man whose dressing as woman???
Or that if they are a woman in soul they’re “not a real cross-dresser” so they should just commit to being one (either a man who cross dresses or a woman by ergo removing their *cough cough* “package”).
All in all I just want clarification on what his reply meant and by extension clarification on the way the demon lady reacted to it cause I’m just confused by it, and it was worded really confusing.
