Shimano Curado 301 DSV
What’s up y’all,
So, I recently impulsively bought a Curado 301 DSV. I have never owned a baitcaster this big before and am hoping one of y’all might be able to help me out.
I’ll be fishing mostly inshore waterways and flats when I get the chance.
A few of the questions I currently have are:
Did I get a decent reel?
-I’ve tried google and YouTube but there is not much info about the 301 DSV model.
What sized/weight lures SHOULD I be throwing? How small can I go?
How do I identify the right type of rod to get?
- I am used to freshwater/bass fishing and have picked out 100% of my rods by picking it up and feeling the balance. Saltwater gear is new to me and I’m unsure of how it will affect my casting abilities.
And lastly, what kind of lures do y’all recommend?
-I’m in South Florida and have minimal gear over 1/4 to 1/2oz. I just picked up some DOA TerrorEyz baits and plan on ordering some other heavier stuff from their website. However, I’m not sure where to start when it comes to crank baits, swim baits, and any kind of hard plastics.
I am fluent in most knots that you’d use with lighter gear, but lack in knowledge of how to tie heavy (20-50lb) florocarbon. Any knots I should freshen up on? (I just learned the FG knot and have since added it to all my gear haha)
Again, thanks for any advice 🤙🏽
