19 weeks pregnant, health issues, and manager not responding to sick note.
I’m 19 weeks and 6 days pregnant and I’ve been having a really difficult time health-wise.
I had swelling and was sent to A&E with suspected blood clots. I had an ultrasound and they confirmed there are no clots, but I’m still dealing with swelling, shortness of breath, panic attacks, and high blood pressure.
I’ve been off work since Wednesday, initially self-certifying, and I’ve now been signed off by my GP for 4 weeks starting from today due to pregnancy-related complications.
The issue I’m struggling with is my manager. I informed her I was off sick, and she didn’t reply to me, even though she has been active and has replied to other colleagues. I then sent my fit note today and still haven’t had any response. Monday is a bank holiday, so realistically I won’t hear anything until Tuesday at the earliest.
I don’t want to escalate or start conflict because I may be returning to work before maternity leave, but I can’t help feeling like I’m being ignored or treated differently. I’m worried it could be pregnancy-related discrimination, but I’m not sure if I’m overthinking it.
Has anyone dealt with something similar or know what steps I should take without making things worse?
