Revolt Advanced 2 for road ultras

Hey everyone

I am thinking of getting a Revolt Advanced 2 with GRX 2x12 to start riding gravel and eventually participate in gravel ultras.

So far, I have only ridden my road bike on road ultras, but often felt the need in easier gearing when doing lots of elevation. And I'd prefer to not switch the crankset on my roadbike. I figured if I buy a capable gravel bike, I could just throw a road wheelset on it and use it for hilly road ultras too. For fast grouprides, I would just use my road bike though.

Has anyone here set up their Revolt with a dedicated road wheelset?

  • How is the handling compared to a traditional endurance road bike?
  • Does the slightly lower bottom bracket or geometry change feel weird over long distances?

I am also looking at the Cannondale Topstone 3 Carbon 2x, so if someone has can compared these two that would be awesome.

Thanks!

Topstone 3 Carbon on road

Hey everyone,

I'm thinking of getting a Topstone Carbon 3 2x. It will primarily be used as a gravel bike, but I’m looking for a bike that I can also use on road ultras with some elevation which requires easier gearing since I dont want to switch cranks on my roadbike too often. I won't be using the Topstone for fast group rides though (I'll keep my road bike for that).

For those who own one:

  1. How does the Kingpin suspension feel on long stretches of smooth pavement? Do you feel like you lose efficiency when climbing loaded?
  2. How does the geometry feel after long hours in the saddle compared to a traditional endurance road bike?
  3. Also, is the internal storage more of a gimmick or do you actually use it to store stuff there?

Curious to hear your thoughts!
