Honeymoon while pregnant in French Polynesia
Title sums it up - my husband and I have our honeymoon planned for end of this September to French Polynesia. We have had this planned for over a year and we just found out last week I’m pregnant (yay!). Little poor planning on our part but very excited. I’ll be probably ~10 weeks for the trip. I called and my OB appointment isn’t until right after the trip (around 12-13 weeks)…. I’m thinking I’m going to call around and see about getting in somewhere before we leave just to make sure everything is okay beforehand.
I’m somewhat worried about the mosquito-borne illness warnings. Looks like no ongoing Zika transmission and there hasn’t been an outbreak in >10 years so I would just be very cautious (mosquito repellent).
My biggest fear is something awful like ectopic or miscarriage while abroad and going to get travel insurance. Is this a terrible idea? I’m getting kind of nervous and wanting to postpone it. Does anyone else have experience traveling here or anywhere else tropical while pregnant?
