I think the relationships between the 3 sisters is so odd

From the first book onwards, it’s really hard to determine why the sisters behave the way they do. I know everyone gives Nesta a hard time for how she treated Feyre but Elain is no better. When they were struggling with poverty, all she cared about was purchasing material items even though Feyre was out risking her life for them everyday. Moving forward, when they become Fae, Elain contributed almost nothing and Nesta is obsessed with protecting Elain. I have not gotten to ACOSF yet, but is their relationship dynamic further explained in that book? It makes no sense to me why Nesta is extremely protective of Elain and dismissive of Feyre. It’s not like Nesta is incapable of showing her love and feelings, she clearly does that with Elain. Everyone treats Elain like a fragile child which is perplexing considering the fact that she’s not even the youngest. I wonder if there is more to it that will be fleshed out in the later books. Regardless, I think the relationship SJM tries to foster between the three sisters in ACOWAR is very forced. There is no real chemistry between the three of them, especially Elain and Feyre. Elain barely acknowledges her existence and Feyre just feels a duty to protect her.

Can I read CC without finishing ACOTAR or starting TOG?

As the title indicates, I am interested in starting CC but I don’t feel like finishing ACOTAR or reading all of TOG. Is the context of the two series essential to understanding CC? Or can it be read as a standalone series?

Hot take: Rhysand would have destroyed Feyre if she did to him what she did to Tamlin.

I genuinely feel like Rhys would have gone into her mind and destroyed her and everyone she loves. I don’t know why everyone loves Rhys so much. He is extremely manipulative and has Feyre wrapped around his finger. Had I not known that SJM sort of writes on a whim, I would have thought that Rhys was written to build up to some crazy plot twist. What if Rhys was able to manipulative all of the other Courts to join his side when he is in reality the villain? He constantly enables Feyre to his benefit but does it in a way where she thinks she is empowered. Rhys does not play about Feyre because he created her to be an extension of himself. If she were to turn on him, I feel as though he would destroy her and her family to the point of no return. It’s frustrating to read the books because Feyre does not see through Rhys. She blindly believes whatever he says and she naively believes that the rest of the Night Court is loyal to her. Little does she know, that if Rhys were to command otherwise, her so called “friends” would all turn on her. I think Mor would be the first one. I am not a Tamlin apologist, I just don’t think he is as dangerous as Rhys.
