I found this lovely yarn and I want to make a sweater with it. So I found a pattern that’s simple enough that I think I can make it. Since it’s a wearable I wanted to do the gauge swatch and I’m perplexed. The gauge says it should be approximately 7.5 stitches and five rows of stitch pattern in 4” x 4”. I don’t gauge much but this seems way wrong to me? Help?

I have the least catty cat of all time. She doesn’t like cardboard boxes, has never crawled into a gift bag, just doesn’t loaf in general. But she loves trying to eat my yarn while I’m working, so of course I made her something out of yarn. In an attempt to entice her to actually go inside, I sprinkled some catnip. Let’s see…
