Looking for ideas for an unusual yarn - looks handwoven, uneven weight

Looking for ideas for an unusual yarn - looks handwoven, uneven weight

Found this yarn in the op shop, got tempted by unusual colouring and texture (it’s very silky to touch), but now can’t figure out what to do with it.

My only idea so far is a purse or a bag.

Very confused. This is not my first mosaic pattern. But R2, stitches 3, 14, 22, and 44 are all “doubles” but it does not reflect color-wise on the chart. Also does not match what written pattern says. Am I missing something?

Any stitch suggestions to mimic this style as a blanket?

My boyfriend is absolutely OBSESSED with my hand towels. Im not exactly sure why this is the one pattern he's gravitated towards most but for some reason it scratches the itch just right.

His birthday is in September and id love to make him a blanket mimicking this style. I was thinking maybe moss stitch but im not sure if thats the right call here.

Any suggestions welcome!!! (Also massive bonus for faster stitches, single crochet blanket hell would be doable but rough)

How so I make sure my scarf doesn’t become narrower as I move forward. I’m not exactly a beginner but I haven’t made much improvements in a year. If I can’t get this one to work out, I’m afraid I might lose interest and give it all up, which is not what I want. Help please.

The pattern requires an odd number of chains to start off with. I’m starting out with a narrow scarf chaining 29 using 5-ply cotton yarn. The pattern instructs you to do a single crochet in the second chain from the hook. Then alternate between sc and dc throughout. Seems simple enough but I end up with a scarf that is becoming more and more narrow as I move forward, despite using stitch markers. HELP NEEDED. I really like crocheting. It relaxes my mind if I don’t care about the end result, which is why I’ve stuck with it for so long. However, I’m starting to want something to show for all the time I spend. Besides, with the time I’ve spent studying and practicing, I should be able to pull off a simple scarf already and it’s getting too frustrating. Again, HELP NEEDED.

Stitch & Story Classic Miffy Amigurumi Beginner Crochet Kit

I have the Stitch & Story Classic Miffy Amigurumi Beginner Crochet Kit and I am stuck on row 11 of Miffy’s dress. I am a bit confused about the sleeves as the image on the instructions shows to skip a stitch before attaching the chain, therefore skipping two stitches because there are two straps in that row. The issue is that there are only 28 stitches, from the previous row, to crochet into and the row I am having trouble with is asking for 28 stitches to be crocheted in plus two stitches skipped therefore there would need to be 30 stitches. I have attached images of the instructions as well as the kit I have. Please let me know if I have misread the instructions. Thank you.

my friend is disabled and i want to make her more useful items. pattern suggestions?

this is my first time posting on reddit so spare me, but i thought it would be a good space to ask this kind of thing. my friend and i are both 19. when we were 16, she got into an accident and now she doesn't have any mobility in her left arm or leg. ever since the accident she hasn't been able to dress or present the way she is most comfortable. recently it was her birthday and i made her a few poncho-like lace crochet tops and a few matching bandannas, as well as a blanket. she has said the first time she wore the clothes and bandana i made her, it was the first time she's felt pretty and like herself since the accident. i want to make her more clothes and wearable items that are easily able to be taken on and off. if anyone could point me in the direction of any other lace tops or ponchos or even tops that don't require much ties, pretty much anything a whimsical 19 girl would enjoy, i would greatly appreciate it. any functional items would also be welcome! thank you in advance!

Stitch or pattern for these pot holders? The ones in the picture are probably 30+ years old.

My mom has had these forever. She asked me to make her some new ones. She likes them because they are flat and dense. Is this just a single crochet in a disc?

Made my first project and it’s already pilling. Help please

So I made a shoulder bag with loops and thread cotton yarn and I’ve use it shortly twice and it’s already pilling. Is that normal? Is there yarn that won’t pill? I want to try hobbii cotton yarn. Has anyone had any luck with that?

I wanted to make a tote but I probably won’t if it pills so easily.

How can I fix this without frogging the whole thing?

So I’m working in a blanket for my son when I noticed the edges are going at a slant instead of going straight. Both sides are like this. Is there a way I can save this? Or do I have to start over 😭

I need help with putting a backing on a granny square blanket

Hello! I just made my first granny square blanket, I haven’t blocked it yet but after I do I want to sew a back on and secure the back by sewing buttons at the crossroads of the squares. Would it be better to sew the backing on and then tie off with the buttons or tie off with the buttons first and then sew my backing on? I used to quilt a lot and I remember doing that but I don’t remember what order to do it in and Google was not helpful. TIA ❤️

I need help making a C2C blanket chart in stitchfiddle

I’m planning on making a C2C blanket of the Bobs Burgers characters using stitchfiddle. The chart I’m planning on using has softer colors to soften the edges (outlining the edges gives it a jagged look that I didn’t like) and I’m wondering if these extra colors will be super noticeable when the blanket is complete. If my gauge swatch is correct the blanket should be a king sized blanket so it should be a pretty big blanket. I would really appreciate any insight as to how the outline might affect the blanket

I know how to make a mr, but I'm not sure what I should be joining to or how to do it

Do I just slip stitch to the first sc and then chain 1? I'd appreciate some help, as I'm not quite sure what to think of this.

beginner here! finally got the hang of single crochet stitch. Am i right to assume the project is bendy because the tension was too tight? or did i miss a stitch?

cant wait to start double stitch!

u/Icy_Grl_4L — 24 hours ago

why are there these gaps forming on the edge of my rows ?

am i doing something wrong ? i still have the same number of stitches so i dont think im missing one. is there a way to make the edge look cleaner ? it’s not super even and straight looking. this is just double crochet. i am doing chain 1 to turn bc thats the video im following even though i thought double crochet would usually use a chain 2 to turn ?

I messed up on this baby blanket I made for my aunt and now I don’t have enough time to fix it.

I’m supposed to give it to her in the next 2 weeks, but I think I messed up on the tension. The bottom row is longer than the top. This is only the second blanket I’ve made but the first one I’ve done using this type of yarn and normal crochet pattern. And it’s the first project I’ve actually sold.

The situation though, she gave me $50 to start with, the yarn was $10 a skein and I ended up buying 5 skeins, so the yarn alone cost what she already gave me. I had assumed that was just for the yarn alone anyway, but then my dad is always saying she has trouble with money and she’s broke. Well she called the other day and said she got some clothes for my son that someone was selling on Facebook and they’re name brand, so I’m like thanks, you didn’t have to do that. And she says she wanted to do something for me since I made her a blanket. It’s also quite a bit bigger than a typical baby blanket. But I didn’t ask for clothes, to be honest they don’t really need any. Plus I’m planning on getting them new clothes for school anyway.

My question is, should I just leave it alone since she’s probably not going to pay me anymore for it? Or should I go ahead and try to fix it with a border, just in case she does?

Advice on Mixing yarn weights for 6day star blanket??

I would really love to make a neutral tone six day star blanket from Caron yarn, however, whenever I find colors that look good together, their weights are different. I really love the color boundless (Caron macchiato) and oyster (Caron cinnamon swirl), but one is bulky and the other is medium weight. Could I just alternate crochet hooks when I change the yarn? Is this not recommended or would it just result in different textures? Any other recommendations for a color scheme like this from the brand? Thanks!

my first baby blanket pattern is not making any sense to me with this edging

For starters, I'm an amigurumi girly so blanket patterns are super new to me and this one has been challenging me so far, but I've managed to make sense of it. I'm now stuck on the last round of the edging and I can't figure out for the life of me what I'm doing wrong.
Pattern (has 90 sts from previous round and mine match that count)

Rnd 3: Ch 4, dc in same st, skip next 2 sc, [(dc, ch 1, dc) in next sc, skip next 2 sts] 7 times, † dc in next st, (ch 1, dc in same st) 3 times, skip next 2 sc, [(dc, ch 1, dc) in next sc, skip next 2 sc] 5 times, dc in next st, (ch 1, dc in same st) 3 times, skip next 2 sts †, [(dc, ch 1, dc) in next sc, skip next 2 sc] 8 times, repeat from † to † once; join with slip st to third ch of beginning ch-4, finish off: 38 ch-1 sps.

The 'skip next 2 sc' in the brackets are throwing me off because I don't think it actually wants me to do that on the 7th time otherwise I run out of stitches on the opposite side?

I've attached 3 photos. My finished attempt that I did a week or so ago (which I think is wrong). The attempt I did today of this which didn't work because I can't fit the '8 times' along the left side.

Am I meant to be crocheting the last [dc, ch1, dc[ up next to the [dc, ch1, dc in the same st]? Is that where I'm going wrong?

The third photo is the 90 stitches from previous round with a marker in the very corner stitch of the last round, I tried to work backwards from that point to find the middle of the [dc in next stitch, ch1, dc in the same st] 3 times, but that didn't work either so I'm lost.

I really struggle to read these patterns as a paragraph as it's very different to most amigurumi patterns, so this may just be misunderstanding something.

Anyone got any ideas where I'm going wrong?

My single bead crochet rope doesn't look like the example in the pattern; my beads won't lay flush together. What am I doing wrong? The beads are size 11/0 and I'm using a 1mm hook, and the pattern calls for 10 beads each row
