Okay, am I crazy or was Feyre the Enchantress and not Belle to our Beast?

I was re-watching the 1991 Disney animated version of Beauty & the Beast for the hundredth time or so and while I know there is supposed to be inspo there for ACOTAR, I really can’t see Feyre in Belle at all. Buckle up because she sounds more like a combo Gaston + Enchantress.

  1. Belle is clever and reads voraciously while Feyre is often making exceptionally stupid choices and isn’t even literate in the first book. You know who is illiterate and makes dumb and terrible choices? Gaston. He and Feyre are also both good hunters (despite the fact Feyre is starving, but whatever). If anyone is going to shoot a wolf, it’s Gaston, not Belle.
  2. Belle has a loving, albeit odd, father who is the reason she briefly leaves the Beast. Feyre’s father is awful and no one should leave a sandwich for him, let alone someone they’re falling in love with.
  3. The Enchantress tests Prince Adam, ultimately making him the Beast when he fails her test. This leads to him destroying the west wing, which Belle is later forbidden from. Feyre tests Tamlin often, especially once he thinks she’s been kidnapped by his friend-turned-enemy and his illiterate fiancée is suddenly writing notes? He fails the test and destroys her room.
  4. Feyre doesn’t cure Spring of any curse really, she leaves it in ruin as the Enchantress did with the castle, grounds, and entire staff.

All this to say, our Beast is cursed by Feyre and hasn’t found his Belle yet. How long he has before he’s consumed by his loss, grief, and self-loathing? I don’t know. And Amarantha? Just a flat, static villain.

The black raspberries are coming in and I’m so hyped

Pulled off about 8 cups worth of them last night and there’s at least 3x that waiting and ripening. My favorites!

Finally got Angel Face

My grandmother had two Angel Face roses in her garden and I always loved the fragrance. They sell out so quickly around me, but I lucked out this year and here she is!

My oakleaf hydrangea, giant allium (summer drummer), and favorite rose (angel face) are all showing off today!

My first ever Dutch Iris, Picasso, is opening up!

Genuinely didn’t think it would happen this year because they just looked like overgrown grass for so long.

Here we have Raspberry Frills, Beverly Sills, Moonlit Water, Lord of the Night, Designer Art, Twist of Fate and one with no ID.

If anyone has a lead on picture 7, let me know!

Finally got one with no frost damage! Topped Off (with bonus Silverado that just opened this morning and Red Lion from last night)

Being in easy driving distance of Sutton Iris Garden is a blessing on my garden and a curse on my wallet.

Check the comments for IDs on all but one

Tennyson Ridge, Topped Off, Double Shot, Twist of Fate, and one with no ID. If anyone knows what the last is, let me know. It hitched a ride with another rhizome so I have no clue what it is.

So many irises have this color scheme that I just don’t know. It has rebloomed one time in the past 8 years and that was in a particularly crisp September. I’m in a recently reclassified zone (was 6B but now we’re 7)

Purchased from Sutton’s Iris last year, might have some frost damage but it’s good to see it opening up.

Twist of Fate is the first image, the second and third are both Witch’s Wand. These two are consistently my earliest bearded irises to bloom.
