Seeking Senior Year Schedule Advice
Hello, I'm looking for advice in developing a schedule for my senior year of high school. I’ve already taken or will take all of the STEM classes offered by my school that I am interested in. (CSA, Physics, Chem, Calc, etc). If I end up taking only classes from my high school, I’m stuck choosing between a half schedule or taking less rigorous classes that I lack interest in. I’m trying to avoid the trap of taking classes that I’m not interested in solely for an admissions boost.
I looked into dual enrollment at my local CC, but the classes offered are very limited and the majority overlap with the AP classes I've already taken. Now, I am considering enrolling as a non-degree seeking student at a college offering online classes.
I've also been fortunate enough to intern at a Naval quantum physics lab, and will return for the Summer. I could continue that internship into my Senior year, but it would limit my availability to take other classes.
As a few examples, I'm interested in taking classes such as diff eq/linear algebra, computational thinking, intro to quantum mechanics, and intro to AI. I've been working through a few courses through MIT OpenCourseWare just out of interest, but I recognize it would likely be beneficial from an admissions perspective to take formal classes throughout my senior year.
Questions:
- Should I focus on taking the APs that will appear on my HS transcript or is taking online classes as a non-degree seeking student a valid way to fill up my schedule?
- Should I consider programs such as Stanford ULO, where I am not actually enrolled as a student but am able to take online classes and receive a transcript?
- Would continuation of an internship make up for a limited schedule senior year?
I'm open to any and all recommendations, thank you guys for everything that you do!
